Cincinnati Reds 2024
Re: Cincinnati Reds 2024
Lucas Sims on the move. Reds have traded him to Boston for the Red Sox 29th ranked minor league prospect, pitcher Ovis Portes. Not a great return but it’s something for Sims who hasn’t been great, is going to be a free agent come November. Could see Martinez or Farmer also moved today.

Why not? Montas has been struggling and was likely getting close to his inning limit for the year given his previous injury. The Reds save money for 2025 that can be spent on outfielders. And Junis coming to the Reds may have been to replace Martinez who they were trying to trade. Also there is the false hope of being just 5 games out of a wild card playoff spot. The Reds would need to win at least 36 of their last 55 games to have a shot. That is not going to happen with a line up of mostly AAA shuttle players. Just be happy they didn't trade ELDC and Greene for a bucket of balls. There is always hope for next year.

Castillo should not have been traded, it comes back to haunt them, now until they spend some money for Quality players it's going to being the same and people that are Reds fan taking it on the chin year in year out the same out come gets old.

Re: Cincinnati Reds 2024
The Reds problems are deeper than spending, player evaluation and development, coaching and training. The Reds ownership group, now headed by Phil Castellini, simply has no desire to compete for championships. There are no standards of excellence in the organization. They measure success as cash flow and keeping the team in Cincinnati. Any meaningful change in the Reds fortunes will require a sale of the team to an owner willing to spend. Such a sale would likely mean moving the franchise away from Cincinnati. Enjoy Greene and ELDC while you can. The Reds in reality are a AAA team.

Yes, they are. A farm team for the rest of MLB. With the exception of Votto, they train players until they need paid, then trade or sell them.Zahns Corner wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 6:38 pm

Well for something completely different:
Reds to play Atlanta at Bristol Motor Speedway in 2025?

Will Darrel Waltrip throw out the first pitch?
Boogity boogity, lets play ball?
