I guess the Adkins kid from Burg isn’t playing football for the Trojans after all?

Not sure how reliable, but heard he going back to Burg b/c of uncertainty of basketball coaching staff at PHS.*

I wouldn’t blame him a bit if he chose to head back to Burg, situation sucks

Just read through and caught up with conversation. I feel like Portsmouth having a stronger arm being able to take the top off the defense would open up the run game. CW is fast. So why not run everything off a jet motion and keep the defense on their heels. Numbers are an issue. But 7th and 8th I believe has 26 kids out this year. That's a much better turn out than last year. I know the freshmen class has low numbers in all sports.

Any truth behind the rumor of Heiland breaking his hand in practice?

  Man I sure hope not I'd hate to hear that especially with a kid going into his senior year.

He does have a few injuries that I believe will hold him out of the upcoming scrimmage at Burg and maybe Waverly. To my knowledge neither injury is a break, I believe the plan is to just be cautious. Trojans need a healthy Heiland if they want to contend for the OVC & make the playoffs.

No reason to push it early in the season, especially with expanded playoffs. Heiland has to be healthy by the time conference games come around.*

According to the team photo, looks like Portsmouth will have about 40 kids, up about 5-6 kids than reported earlier this summer. Also the Burg transfer Adkins is indeed playing football for the Trojans this fall. Could be good news for him staying for basketball as well. First scrimmage tonight at Porter Township.

I second what PTrojan59 said about Logan Adkins. I had a friend who went to the scrimmage vs. Wheelersburg and that he is indeed playing for Portsmouth.

Hard to really say because it was week 1. Lots of mistakes but you’ll have that. Offense didn’t look as explosive as I would’ve thought, but maybe Valley defense was that stout. Portsmouth defense was better than advertised, came away impressed. As many have said even just a smidge more of a passing game would be great. A lot of guys rotated on defense, especially in the secondary, but noticed it at all positions. That’ll definitely help late in the season, depth is key.
