Re: Scrimmage Results
I heard Burg 5-1 over Portsmouth. Don’t know the details.

I’d say something like 4-1 or 5-1 Burg during varsity. First possession Portsmouth scored on rather easy. I think Burg scored once during the first varsity session. JV whatever, second varsity session they scored 3-4 times, twice on big plays. I’d probably count one less for a block in the back that was pretty bad. Wouldn’t say either team looked great, but also not that they looked bad. No Heiland for Portsmouth. Not sure if Burg sat anyone or how watered down things were on either side. No fights though so that’s a plus lol

Re: Scrimmage Results
Not sure of TDS. Maybe 4 to 5 for burg, Portsmouth had 1. Jv game was about even. 10 play scrimmage for entire scrimmage
Burg without two starters RB and a defensive player
Portsmouth big RB out.
Portsmouth I think should stick with their power I. Burg didn’t really defensively get after the first series and Portsmouth went down the field running between the tackles.
Burg started running some defensive stunts/blitzes in the second series and started giving Portsmouth some fits up front on their assignments. Portsmouth struggled in spread.
Burg went vanilla on most offensive possessions.
Portsmouth will better when RB comes back but I think depth is really going to get them.

Id agree with this take. I think it may have been 5-1 Burg. Portsmouth will be better and I’m sure a bit different with Heiland out there. Missed him and another starting LB on defense for sure. OL/DL depth will likely be an issue for the Trojans. They need to be more conditioned as well.wobycat wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 10:23 pm Not sure of TDS. Maybe 4 to 5 for burg, Portsmouth had 1. Thought Burgs QB looked good throwing the ball when he did, Portsmouth’s secondary is still a massive problem though. Always impressed with Burgs kicking, I wanted them to let him keep going until he missed.
Pretty decent scrimmage overall.

Ironton is really good. Our inexperience really showed on defense and was very vanilla. the tigers did whatever they wanted on offense. Offense ran the ball all but 2-3 plays and moved the ball well at times
Re: Scrimmage Results
That’s really surprising is Zane trace really good this year?petesweaty wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 10:21 pm Zane Trace scored 3 TDs to none for Valley.
Both teams JV scored one.

I can’t wait to see Ironton scrimmage Cincinnati Anderson, should be a good test for the Fighting Tigers.SiderSammy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 10:57 pmIronton is really good. Believe they returned a lot of the skilled players but had to replace a big part of the OL, their coach is in his 2nd year of build things his way so that's always a plus.Izladoom wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 12:16 amThat’s really surprising is Zane trace really good this year?petesweaty wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 10:21 pm Zane Trace scored 3 TDs to none for Valley.

Qb looked good. No clue who #2 was but he can fly and is going to be a weapon. Smaller 3 man D front looked better than the bigger 4 man front. Backer play has to be better. When they go big on D the front 7 has no speed.wobycat wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 10:23 pm Not sure of TDS. Maybe 4 to 5 for burg, Portsmouth had 1. Re: Scrimmage Results
I believe it’s a pretty experienced team due to the amount of injuries faced last year. True they graduated some “starters” but ended up playing quite a few other guys while kids were out. Coach is in year 2 as well so I think it’s a little smoother at ZT. Valley should be fine - ZT is solid.greygoose wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 6:13 amBelieve they returned a lot of the skilled players but had to replace a big part of the OL, their coach is in his 2nd year of build things his way so that's always a plus.Izladoom wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 12:16 amThat’s really surprising is Zane trace really good this year?petesweaty wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 10:21 pm Zane Trace scored 3 TDs to none for Valley.

Zane Trace scored on big plays. Valley moved the ball, but just did not score in the Varsity part of the scrimmage.
