Isn't it always like that? This is why I always thought it was ludicrous a few years ago for Fort Frye to have to schedule teams all over the state like they're some high-level prep program.beg003 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 6:07 pmSaw in the paper where Huck said their numbers are super low this year - like 30 kids. WK 1: Barnesville @ Fort Frye

Re: WK 1: Barnesville @ Fort Frye
I always thought their roster was typically mid to high 30s, some years maybe 40. I could be off base about that. But I agree on the scheduling. They were good enough to play it obviously, but the risk of injuries was significantly higher. Huck explicitly saying their numbers are low struck me for some reason. I don’t recall him ever making it a distinct point like that.efarns wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 11:44 amIsn't it always like that? Normally at 35-40 players this year some of the freshman quit that everyone thought would play. Fort Frye never has crazy numbers. Waterford has had more players last few years. Rather have kids that want to be there.efarns wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 11:44 amIsn't it always like that? I get it. Give me 30-40 kids who are good football players and want to be there over a roster of 60 and 25 of them are there to just wear a jersey. I’ll take the smaller roster in that situation way more often than not.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 4:32 pmNormally at 35-40 players this year some of the freshman quit that everyone thought would play. Rumor has it that sophomore Grady Hesson is the QB and the Bradford kid is playing full back for Fort Frye
With that being said Barnesville will win this one

Re: WK 1: Barnesville @ Fort Frye
Rumor is true. I agree that Barnesville should be the favorite in this one and get the W. Ff numbers are atrocious this year. Very frustrating for the staff. Build a great tradition and can't get kids to come out. Still have plenty of good players, but depth is definitely a major problemSplashshooter wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 10:11 am Rumor has it that sophomore Grady Hesson is the QB and the Bradford kid is playing full back for Fort Frye

I fully agree. Barnesville has 21 Srs and Fort has 7. Cadets only have 28 total players 14 less than Waterford. Coach Huck will have them ready though. Fort returns most of the line and has 3 RBs over 200. Depth is going to be an issue in the heat. Cadets have almost every player playing both ways. I agree Barnesville is the favorite.

This is probably the toughest game on the schedule for Fort Frye. Wing T going to be fun to watch with Miller, Bradford and Beardsley. Cadets lack the depth so 1 injury could cost them this game.Splashshooter wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 10:11 am Rumor has it that sophomore Grady Hesson is the QB and the Bradford kid is playing full back for Fort Frye

Sad thing was the great freshman not all playing this year. They were awesome last year.

Dang, only 28 kids coming out has to be tough on the coaching stuff.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 10:07 am I fully agree. Barnesville has 21 Srs and Fort has 7. The kids they do have are really good just can’t afford any injuries.Whs95fan wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 9:56 pmDang, only 28 kids coming out has to be tough on the coaching stuff.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 10:07 am I fully agree. Fort wins scrimmage 21-0 or 3 td to zero during varsity. Jv was 1 Td to zero. Miller and Beardsley didn’t get many touches. Hesson had some good throws. He had 2 TDS and one Int. Cadets had a lineman go down. So let’s hope he heals up fast. Cadets defense is going to be real good.

Fort Frye looks really good again, but man their depth is going to be tested:

Cadets host Morgan tonight for the Annual Jamboree. I’ll have everyone updated.
