2024 OVC Football Scrimmages
2024 OVC Football Scrimmages
I seen where rock hill didn’t look good. Gallia got outplayed by Nelsonville. Does anyone have any information on the other ovc teams on how they looked this past weekend?

Re: Ovc football scrimmage
Burg beat Portsmouth pretty easy. I don’t think any team is really that good in the ovc this year. I think Portsmouth will win it. Gallia will be the hardest game.

Burg always had that scrimmage in hand, but I don’t know if I’d say it was easy. I also think Fairland will challenge Portsmouth for the title. GA 3rd or maybe even 4th.Beergogglebluez wrote: Mon Aug 12, 2024 8:59 am Burg beat Portsmouth pretty easy. I don’t think any team is really that good in the ovc this year. Re: Ovc football scrimmage
QB last year was a freshman, he’s a WR this season. His older brother a senior will be QB. He was slated to be QB last year until he broke his hand in the summer. Didn’t return until week 5. He’s a bit more capable of a passer, both equally fast. That said Portsmouth will be run first. Return one of the best backs in seo, QB will run. As far as WR goes not a ton of eye popping stats, they seem to struggle to get open some times, decent hands though.Team ovc wrote: Mon Aug 12, 2024 11:05 amI’m thinking there qb last year was a freshman. I would agree with that as well…I can remember at least one drive for sure Ptown ran out of plays but had been driving, and there may have been a couple more.BuckeyeBlood wrote: Mon Aug 12, 2024 11:32 amBurg always had that scrimmage in hand, but I don’t know if I’d say it was easy. Re: Ovc football scrimmage
I was thinking how good Portsmouth QB would be in a flex or wing T with the occasional waggle. A shifty fast QB like that is super hard to stop.BuckeyeBlood wrote: Mon Aug 12, 2024 11:35 amQB last year was a freshman, he’s a WR this season. His older brother a senior will be QB. Portsmouth would be well served to watch how Cabell Midland used their QB Robert Shokey last season. A run 1st offense and a QB who posessed a very similar skill set. He gave defenses fits. Both when he was at Parkersburg South and when he hit the portal and joined Midland.
Re: Ovc football scrimmage
Yes you are correct. I remember hearing now that the freshman’s brother was supposed to be QB1 and he broke his hand. Looks like they will be a hard team to stop this year on offense. How’s there defense going to be? By what I’m hearing right now it might take 50 to win a lot of games this season.BuckeyeBlood wrote: Mon Aug 12, 2024 11:35 amQB last year was a freshman, he’s a WR this season. I think they brought back 7 or 8 on defense, probably gave up about 30 a game so I can’t imagine they will take a huge step backwards but it is high school kids and anything is possible.Team ovc wrote: Mon Aug 12, 2024 7:13 pmYes you are correct. Re: Ovc football scrimmage
I’m hoping the defense has improved a bit. They return 9 starters from last season, as well as about 5 kids who got significant minutes on defense last year. Portsmouth was decent against the run last year, but struggled with the pass. The secondary hopefully has improved. The offense I would think will be on par with last season.portsmouth_98 wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 2:29 pmI think they brought back 7 or 8 on defense, probably gave up about 30 a game so I can’t imagine they will take a huge step backwards but it is high school kids and anything is possible.Team ovc wrote: Mon Aug 12, 2024 7:13 pmYes you are correct.
