Gotta go with Ironton in this one. Too much speed and too many weapons for Burg.

I expect a Ironton win.
But believe the score will be closer than others think it’s a rivalry game and being the first game of the season I can see both teams making mistakes keep it low scoring and closer than expected.
Ironton is loaded and may put it away late 3rd quarter early 4th.

As with Ironton, it will come down too as it has during the Pendleton era.Dumb penalties and turnovers. If they cut them out or limit them it will be a massive blowout. If not who knows.

I agree. If I am not mistaken, some were saying last year that it would be a big Ironton win and it did not turn out that way. It could happen, but I also look for it to be closer.

Honest question; do you think Ironton is loaded or is burg down this season? Burg has the larger roster but they dont look as deep as Ironton on paper at least.

Yup. If the los is clean and efficient Ironton is very dangerous.

I remember everybody predicting an Ironton blowout 2 years ago in this game. That Ironton team went on to State Finals, but only beat Burg 12-3 (with a late touchdown in 4th quarter to seal game). Burg actually outgained them in yardage if I remember right. Unless this Burg team is drastically worse than 2 years ago, I don't see this game being a blowout.*

Ironton close. Burg OLine will make the difference if it’s a close game ( and the usual plethora of Ironton penalties )

I believe Ironton is loaded.
And hungry this year.
They seem more disciplined and with a true offensive coach on the staff that will help.
I know you can’t go by scrimmages a lot but against West Ironton was just on another lever and West will be a decent team this year should be no worse than 8-2 or 9-1.
Ironton on the other hand with it’s schedule could be 7-3 or even 6-4 depends on how well the correct the penalties and stay healthy.
But it starts with game 1 with the Burg I want Ironton to win no doubt but I want both teams to come out healthy

This game will come down to turnovers and mistakes, just like nearly every game before. No doubt Ironton is better on paper, and if Burg makes too many mistakes, we could see a repeat of early 2021. Could also see the end of 2021 if Ironton makes the mistakes.

That said, Burg can help their cause by trying to slow the game down and run the ball behind their big line. If Burg gets pass happy, which they tend to do, this will lead to mistakes/turnovers. Will play to IHS’ advantage.

As always, great game to start the season!

Burgs gotta make it a rock fight in order to win I think. Long time consuming drives resulting in touchdowns. Their thorn in their side in this game the past few years has been turnovers. They turn it over a few times and lose the turnover battle I can see Ironton taking it by a few scored. If not will be first to 21 to win imo

I think Burg will be completive but I believe Ironton is to big and quick and it will wear Burg down.
I do believe it being the first game of the season and good coaching on both sides the game will be closer than most expect but even with a Ironton win Burg will still do well and go 7-3 or 6-4 at worse they have a great schedule as well as Ironton going to be an exciting year for both teams.
Ironton 35-Burg 14 but the score won't indicate how close the game truly will be

Anyone playing Ironton this season will need to stay in the game the first half and not get worn down in the 2nd half.

Well said. Similar to the 2022 game. Burg was completely outmanned but made it a 4 quarter game.

With Burg, not worried so much about getting worn down in the second half given the amount of bodies they can play. More concerned about the initial burst from Ironton early in the game.

Mostly concerned about Burg’s O game plan. They need to forget the half back pass and jet sweeps in this one. And definitely don’t get into an offensive shootout with IHS. That will definitely not end well for Burg.

Agree…we’ve got at least 3 - 4 good backs. Pound the rock and chew the clock
