The defense has several players that only play defense and they can rotate 1-2 deep at every position to stay fresh. Schreck has looked really good in both scrimmages throwing the ball, plus winning several 7v7 competitions and getting chemistry with the WR’s is huge. The 3 headed monster at RB is arguably the best in the state with Williams, Copas and the big bruiser between the tackles Graves at 6’2 225lbs. The WR crew is really good with Terry, Edwards, Roach and Baker all had TDs in both scrimmages, If Burg doubles Terry other players will shine. OL is returning everyone expect for Patterson. This senior group is hungry and has played a lot of games including several playing in the state game. I look for Ironton to win comfortably 34-10

The D line and linebackers are a little undersized. That gives me pause on big physical teams who run between the tackles.

Defense should be pretty big.

Returners from last year.

Jacobs DL- 6’4 280
Layne DL- 6’0 240
Copas DL- 5’9 200
Bump LB- 6’0 200
Williams LB- 5’9 200
Sturgill LB- 5’9 185
Johnson DB- 6’3 185
Markel DB- 6’0 190
Terry DB- 5’10 180
Edwards DB- 5’10 175

They can sprinkle in some size at spots and DL all go over 220lbs
And LBs go over 200lbs.

From what I’ve seen and heard. Fastest Defense Ironton has had since Pendleton has been there.

Pretty good size for a D5 team.

Also been trying to find out if it’ll be live streamed
Looks like Burg Sports Network will be steaming it live on their YOUTUBE page.

So, this thread is going well. Glad the talk of phantom kids from outer limits playing on either side has cooled off. Ironton is definitely loaded. I've heard on other sites some think Kaskey will make a difference because he is from Burg. I don't think so. I believe it will come down to how fast Burgs D grows up. If they play together as a unit they should hold their own. If not, it will get ugly. Let's hope for no injuries and a great season. Let's hope both clubs live up to their potential.

The FOE option took care of the problem :)

Completely agree with your comment on Burg D.

Looking forward to this one. I think it will be a little closer than most people think. Good luck to all the athletes this evening.

How is the parking? And where is the best place to park?

You can park in the school lot but getting out really sucks.

Many Burg folks will park at the bottom of the hill and walk up, but this can be daunting for those not in the best of shape. That said, getting out is much easier parking somewhere at the bottom of the hill.

Not sure about parking on the hill at the entrance to the school since the ongoing softball field construction

If you dont mind about a 10-minute walk, park at the high school and walk across Pirate Drive. Getting out of traffic after games in the gravel lot next to the stadium can be a 30+ minute adventure sometimes.

As for the game, I going with Ironton winning by a score of 27-17. Burg defense just has so many new faces out there, but will get better as the year goes on as always. Terry and Co., with Kaskey calling the plays, is a TOUGH opening game for an inexperienced defense.*

Gravel lot is awful. Made that mistake once; ended up driving down the road leading to the stadium and exiting that way.

How is getting out of the high school lot? That seems like it would be bad as well.
