There is excitement in the program, a lot of kids are out for the team, you have strong Community support.

You’re only in year 3 of a totally new staff/culture.

You held what was dubbed to be an explosive offense to 15 points, while the drive wasn’t ideal you had a chance to tie or win the game.

I think the program walks away from this one dissatisfied, but encouraged for what’s to come.

Looking forward to watching the season unfold for these guys and what the next few years hold.
Great perspective, Coop. Last year Valley gave up 59 pts to Portsmouth and lost by 30. They held that same Portsmouth offense to 15 pts last night and only lost by 3pts. Can't believe the difference in Valley's defense compared to last season.

Portsmouth going to have a solid season. Athletes/speed all over the field and when Heiland gets fully healthy, look out. Kalb does a great job with those kids. Trojans look like a 7-3 type of team to me.*

Heiland was probably around 75% or so last night I’d say. Hard to get healthy when you carry the ball 29 times though. JT Williams was also banged up, first play he was holding his ribs continued the rest of the game. I agree on 7-3 maybe even 8-2.

If we can't throw the ball more consistent, people will start loading the box on us like Burg did at the end of last year, even short passes like buckeye blood mention.

Valley line give us problem on both sides ,they are big , I'm thinking we only lost one lineman from last year?

Even though highland had 127 yards and two TDs he had to work hard for it unlike last year when he ran at will.

Valley is good and will win some games, but our schedule gets tougher here on out starting next week against West.

Both teams has a lot to work on.

If they stick to the I formation, I think they could do some great things. The full back runs nice on those traps and the you have a great option with the boot pass with the Williams kid.

As a valley fan that was a tough loss. Both teams were sloppy but the game was physical and entertaining. Valley killed themselves with penalties but they played hard and tough. Portsmouth has a very good team. I’m pretty optimistic after watching last night though. Reading the griping on here is pretty funny considering how that game was played, and I mean that on both sides. I think both teams will have successful seasons.

Valley is definitely a different team this year. Should be some good things from them I think.

It was a win for the Trojans but, in my opinion, not a very good one. Giving Heil and the ball 25+ times a game this year is simply not going to get it done. We have athletes that just don't get used for whatever reason. I understand the coaching staffs reasoning for using Jt Williams because it's a comfort decision. But why not use him in another position that he can be another offensive threat? Especially when you have a QB that's mobile and can sling it around a little more just standing watching.

One more thing is play relay!!! This is high school level. Why are we sending a player in and out every play with the play like this is peewee football? Keep the best available players on the field and find a better way. Too many times with the play clock running day trying to get the play in. That'll bite you sooner or later

I was reminded by Trojan Dave ,that we did only lose one lineman but we did take a couple big hits on the defensive side losing Noah Livingston who went off to college, leighvon Kalb and Mackenzie and I think one or two more maybe, these guys was a huge part of our Defense.

This week is everyone first week so I'm sure no coach will be 100 percent happy lol .

The defense lost 3 starters, their best DL in Leo Poxes, starting DE Levaughn Cobb & starting LB Noah Livingston. All 3 started on offense as well with Cobb at FB, Livingston at TE and Poxes on the line. Additionally Kingston Littlefield has moved from CB to DE and had a great game.

Good to get the first game win from our Trojan athletes and coaches.
Nothing is going to be close to perfect in week 1. I did not mind the safety.
I do not have much to add, I'll save repeated comments, but would echo sentiments shared from PTrojan59 & biggdowgg

Been here since day 1. Recently go hacked so starting over.

As always, a close and entertaining game to start the football season in SEO. Congrats to PHS on the win and good luck to both schools moving forward. I always look forward to this one and the kids didn't disappoint.
