Week 2: Unioto at Amanda-Clearcreek

Post by Tanks3232 »

Unioto looked better than I thought they would vs VC and Amanda lost to a very bad Linden-McKinley team. I thought Amanda would be improved this year but it seems like this game could be ugly

Pick the score for the Tanks this week, the defense has elite team speed and they are physical.
Woods and Rhinehart running the rock with Coy at QB throwing to the best WR core in the SVC is going to be tough to stop -Cutright-Hoops-Zickafoose are going to be a match up nightmare I really like this Unioto team

The line was shaky in the scrimmage vs MT but they made some changes and the front 4 were causing havoc all game against VC. James, Griffin, and Jarvis are solid

That MT scrimmage was a snowball that the Tanks couldn’t slow down, think the changes were well thought out and made big difference up front. Unioto has the kids up front that look the part

Amanda is one dimensional, like VC was, and that dimension is what the Unioto defense excels at stopping. Week 3 will be a much bigger test with Waverly being a total opposite of their first two opponents.

Last season wasn’t a blowout, so I don’t think this will be either especially on the road.

I really like Coy at QB. He looked great and i think this will be another good game to get him comfortable before Waverly

Agree Coy played well Friday, he made his reads and delivered the ball on home. He threw a good catchable ball and that helps everyone. I thought he did a nice job when the pocket broke down staying in the pocket climbing to make the throw or feeling pressure and avoiding it. I think he has a very bright future as a QB. Nice young player

If we were talking about the Amanda-Clearcreek of 20 years ago, I might have a different outlook, we're not, so I'm going with the Tanks.

Or 4 years ago even. Programs going in opposite directions but I remember reading last year that Amanda was on the rise after week 1 over Mckinley, so it must be the opposite this time

Unioto by a few scores

Probably won’t matter this game but Unioto starting RB and safety Tye Woods is likely out for the season

Does Unioto have any desire to schedule up and try to prepare for the playoffs better? VC, Amanda, and their league don’t seem like they are preparing the U for anything down the road.

When Unioto picked up Amanda, they were in the midst of a long series of postseason success and in the first two years they play, AC won home playoff games. I don’t think the plan of picking up Amanda was for them to fall to depths that they hadn’t been in decades (if ever)

They beat VC by a point last year, so that’s not been an automatic win either.

A little over a decade ago, Unioto was coming off of a stretch of 27 out of 31 seasons where they were dreadfully bad. The program is clearly in a better position and I’d like to see the schedule be improved but it’s also a program with 1 playoff win (in the Covid year at that) and 1 league championship in 25 seasons.

Who should we schedule in our area to get us ready for playoffs?

We got killed by Amanda every year until 2022. Amanda and Waverly are a step up from when we played Alexander and McClain every year.

100%. Also, I believe this is the last year we are playing Amanda, so we will see what direction they go next.

Would like to see Unioto pick up someone like Fairland or West or Court House even Miami Trace. Definitely keep Waverly. I think those are some good opponents.

If we wanted to schedule up to help us for the playoffs in d4 wouldn’t we need to play teams that can compete in d4 playoffs cause those teams mentioned can’t. If you look at the waverly game we don’t really compete very well with them and if you take away the year we didn’t play and you got beat by Massie, you guys didn’t do any better than us in region 16. Imo we keep waverly and get two more d4 schools and just try and keep building the program it’s gonna take years of numbers going up and sustained winning in the regular season for us to be playoff team that can compete. Unfortunately for us teams we could schedule up with to prepare us for d4 playoffs would kill us and be long drives. We could play courthouse and trace, they would be tuff games and could make us better idk but those teams aren’t gonna get us ready to play teams in d4 playoffs

Then who would you suggest they play? Those teams are reasonable programs close to same size. They’re much better to play than the Huntingtons and Southeasterns of the world that you can’t avoid playing. And if you can’t beat the teams I listed you certainly aren’t going to beat anyone in region 16. Also your in Region 15 now which is much more favorable in comparison to 16.
