Time will tell, but after week 1, Tigers own Southern Ohio by a big margin!

That’s with any team. You’re going off one game. Did you know HP got beat by London 2 weeks ago in a jamboree game scrimmage.

Shamrocks will be there in the end and if Tigers play them, one of best games of year.

Prime Time wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2024 8:54 am How can you say Ironton is the best passing team in region after 1 game. I would think after 7-8 games you can make that statement but after beating the Pirates, I wouldnt say that at the moment. Play some teams that match up to the Tigers first and see what happens.
So you can say Ironton is the 3rd best team in the region after 1 game but he can’t say they are the best passing team after 1 game? See the irony there?

Ironton played Cinnci Anderson in a jamboree game this year with varsity playing a half and it was 24-16. Anderson was D2 State semi-finalist a year ago and bring back majority of team. They are a favorite to win D2 this year.

Win d2? Over Massillon and Hoban? Not a chance

Maybe not, but they are one of the favorites nonetheless. He did not say THE favorite.

I haven't seen Barnesville this year, but they are going to have to prove they can overcome their weak schedule. Love how barnesville is coached and play but they have trouble with tougher teams.

I have seen Prep this year and they are legit. The new QB can sling it.

Passing I think plays right into Irontons hands. They are very good defending the pass. Arguably their best defensive player didn’t play in Wheelersburg game. The kid is going to Louisville as a 6’3 corner. Yet they held Wheelersburg to 44 yds passing.

Prime Time wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2024 8:12 am My opinion is Ironton is no better than 3rd best in Region 19. Harvest Prep , but my sleeper for maybe a state berth is Barnesville Shamrocks, they are a beast this year and Im picking them at least regional finals and maybe more. So when the dust settles Region 19 will not be decided by the southern Ohio Tigers. Even thou theyre heads above the teams down there, not the case else where in the region.
Barnesville would not be a problem for Ironton. Hp is a different story.

Jackson is well coached, have a lot returning, and are always good size and play with good physicality. Ironton is just a lot more talented this season and have experience and depth too. Tigers win this one.

Also respect to the SEOPS Jackson fan base. They never whine on here about transfers and make excuses like Wheelersburgs fan base. They accept reality with class, win or lose.

I like Jackson in this one but I do think with Coach Larry Hall at green now , how the game might be called might be a difference maker. Ironman will make it tough sledding here. Jackson home field advantage also

Jackson likes to use play action and mix in in fairly well with the run. So Ironton will just need to be sound in their assignment and they should do fine. Passing against Ironton will be dangerous for opposing offenses all season with Terry, Edwards and Johnson in that secondary, a pick could become 6 in a blink. Jackson will need be be very efficient running the ball to make Irontons secondary work harder.

I think this the most rounded offence Ironton has had in Pendleton's time at Ironton.
they are deep in the receiving core and deep at running backs.
The Line is solid and QB is stable with passing accuracy and the ability to pull the ball down and run.
On Defense The line is quick and linebackers can hit the secondary is solid and probably the strongest part of the group.
This is a very good Ironton team and will only improve as the season goes on.
Jackson will be a challenge and will give Ironton all they want but I think if Ironton stays composed they will pull it out in a well fought game between to very strong teams
