WK 2: Zane Trace at Waverly
WK 2: Zane Trace at Waverly
Tigers with their home opener as they host the Pioneers. Waverly with a big 28-23 road win at Miami Trace week 1, while ZT fell 33-27 to Logan Elm after trailing 27-6.
It's going to be a very hot and dry week, in the 90's all week with a forecast of 94 or so on Friday.
Thoughts on this one??

How long is zt qb out for? They beat Logan elm if he doesn’t go down. Be tuff for any Svc school to beat waverly
Re: WK 2: Zane Trace at Waverly
I think Zane Trace can win this game if they use the power game like they did against Logan Elm in the last three quarters. After their QB went down, they went to the Wildcat and ran the ball well especially when they wore down Logan Elm late in the game. They almost pulled it out on a dropped P6 with 5 minutes left. Then, LE hit a bomb and scored to make it a 13 point lead.
Johnson and Stewart are legit power running backs. They need to pound it and get the ball to Dunn when they can. The key for the ZT defense will be the secondary, who is athletic, but need to make plays.

Zane Trace should have the advantage up front. Just need to limit the big playsBozo wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2024 9:13 am I think Zane Trace can win this game if they use the power game like they did against Logan Elm in the last three quarters. Re: WK 2: Zane Trace at Waverly
There’s a major difference in a QB going down early on and running a different style offense than a team would’ve prepared for and a team having all week long to prepare for it. ZT will have some success running the ball as Waverly simply isn’t very big up front but again Waverly has all week long to prepare. I think the bigger question is will Waverly have a letdown after the big MT win?? Look for them to start off slow but Waverly by 20Bozo wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2024 9:13 am I think Zane Trace can win this game if they use the power game like they did against Logan Elm in the last three quarters. Re: WK 2: Zane Trace at Waverly
If ZT can limit the huge play, Waverly had difficulty sustaining drives and stopping the run against MT, which should keep the Pioneers in the game even if they are going to be one dimensional.
Waverly had the 56 yard TD and two massive kickoff returns, besides those plays, they struggled to maintain drives and move the chains. They are apart of the game and I think ZT has a better kicking game than Miami Trace did and should be smart enough to not kick to Swords.
ZT is built to be a power running team, even if they don’t want to be and don’t have the biggest line, so I think they can keep the explosive offense of the Tigers off the field by grinding possessions.
The more I think about this game, the more I think ZT can keep itself in the game if they rely on the running game.

Last year Waverly just pounded the rock with Hurd curious to see their approach this year as this coaching staff has had ZTs number the last few match ups
2019 Heisman Trophy Winner, 2019 National Champion
Re: WK 2: Zane Trace at Waverly
I don’t see this game being very close. Zt does run a 4-2-5 that is a good defense for waverly but I don’t think it will matter in the end. Zt only hope is to play mistake free and keep the ball away from waverly.

Tigers by a score or maybe two. Good luck to the tigers and pioneers.

Do you know if you can get the replay online. I’m not good with that stuff but I can listen to games from last year of our games but I like some of the other play by play guys too.

Waverly Tigers by a few scores there in Tiger Country.

I would probably have to go with the Tigers over the Pioneers in this one, especially with the home field advantage.
