Yes people wanted them out. They got no competition from most of the other conferences teams. But, don’t forget a few short years ago, when they weren’t very good, they BEGGED to get in the OVC. As a matter of fact, they’re fortunate they didn’t give all the sports the boot when football exited.

Short memory for many Tigers fans. The OVC entry saved Ironton football, along with Pendleton coming in.
Remember listening to the running clock games with Ironton on the wrong side of scoreboard during previous regime.

Not saying Portsmouth will win the OVC, but they'll be in the running for the title. The Trojans improved dramatically from Week 1's 15-12 win over Valley with a 41-7 dominating win over Portsmouth West. Fairland beat West by the same margin of victory.

Fairland is the team to beat no doubt.
Portsmouth is playing well and maybe the second best team in the OVC at this time.
And coal grove the third best.
Simply put it is a 2 team OVC race.
The OVC is a weak conference as is the SOC this year and that no insult to any team until all schools commit to Football and make their league better that will be what it is.
