Tough matchup, Sammons is hard to stop. He had quite the game against Portsmouth last year, although Portsmouth lost in OT due to a fumble at the 3 that would’ve won the game. My guess is this is high scoring.

So far Greenup County has defeated
Coal Grove 37-14
Russell 38-9

I think Portsmouth can come away with a win if they can slow down the Greenup QB.

I thought greenup qb graduated, that changes my whole pick. I’m still going Portsmouth but it will be close. And no more delay of games for the Trojans before the 1st play even happens.

Last 5 games
2023 = Greenup 28-22 OT
1992 = Portsmouth 16-6
1991 = Portsmouth 32-9
1990 = Greenup 21-19
1989 = Portsmouth 14-0

Overall Series = Portsmouth 14-7

Greenup County ends up being victorious but both teams are speedy quick and agile.

Portsmouth looked a lot better vs West but Sammons will definitely test those db's. Hopefully we get as good a game as last year, if Portsmouth wants to host a playoff game winning this one would would be a huge help.

Portsmouth and Valley was a close game. GCHS beat Dawson Bryant fairly easily. Dawson Bryant beat Valley. I think Portsmouth has a rude awakening this week. They are not good enough to stop an offense like Greenup.

They almost beat them last year, lost in OT. I think the defense is better this year. What you said in your post holds no weight at all lmao. 3 completely different teams. Portsmouth the best among the 3 mentioned. I’m not saying Portsmouth will win, but the rude awakening part is laughable. You should stick to the SOC chump

Kind of a long way around to get to this conclusion. Not sure what baring Portsmouth and Valley game has on this one. As it stands right now neither team has someone they both have played that you can compare things to. With that said Greenup is no joke and this will be a tough one for Portsmouth. I’ll go with GCHS by 14

This game was highly entertaining last season. Sammons is the real deal, he hurt the Trojans with his arm and legs. Portsmouth should have won if not for a fumble in OT by Williams. Someone posted above the Portsmouth defense is better this year, and while I agree, I’m not so sure the offense didn’t take a slight step back. Kind of hard to say that after they just hung 41 on West but it just feels like maybe a bit of a regression. I guess we will find out on Friday.

I think the Trojans can win this game, they have athletes all over the field, as does GC I’m sure. Heiland is due for some big runs, maybe we will see those this week. It’ll be my first time taking a game in at GC. Drove by 1000’s of times, played there back in the day, never watched as a fan, looking forward to it. I won’t pick against the Trojans as I’m a bit biased lol. Portsmouth 35 GC 34

Resumes at 1pm tomorrow. Portsmouth ball driving after Greenup went for it on 4th on the opening drive and didn’t convert. 6ish minutes left in the first quarter

22-14 GC at halftime. Portsmouth can’t defend the pass, Sammons is really fun to watch.
