Amanda had 6 turnovers that night. It could have easily been blown out. The Amanda team has guys playing both sides of the ball as well on the line. The difference is the game was the trenches. The Amanda boys dominated that area. They played with the 2nd string QB for the entire second half. It was ugly game from turnover perspective for sure but give credit where credit is due. Good luck to Unioto this Friday night.Tanks3232 wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2024 2:21 pmYeah a lot of guys were playing hurt or sick but they still should’ve handled AmandaRJShifko wrote: Tue Sep 03, 2024 1:00 pmTanks3232 wrote: Mon Sep 02, 2024 11:08 am Unioto has some issues that I’m not sure are solvable. They have a young QB so there will be growing pains. Their RB and best tackler is out for the year so they have 0 RBs and the secondary has nobody who can tackle 1 on 1. Also their line is decent but their best 3 lineman have to play both sides the entire game because they have 0 line depth so they get to be dead tired by the 3rd quarter.
Hate to hear that Unioto is hit by the injury bug. Have to think without a running game that Cutright and Hoops are going to have to continue to give you big plays in the passing game week 1 Caden was averaging 50 a catch week 2 he was putting up 30 a catch love his ability to make plays after the catch. Blake is consistent catching the ball and keeping drives going and he finds the endzone. Hope they can get together and bounce back this week with Waverly This is a huge statement game for both teams

Thanks for the information, always funny how one side of it doesn't mention all of those things. Unioto lost to a team that turned it over 6 times?? Waverly might walk away with this one if they can get a snap.Acesway98 wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 11:43 amAmanda had 6 turnovers that night. It could have easily been blown out. Amanda had 4 turnovers so did we, they also average starting field position was on our side of the fieldgreygoose wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 8:52 amThanks for the information, always funny how one side of it doesn't mention all of those things. They scored two touchdowns and had 4 field goals. Several times they only needed one first down and then kicked a field goal. There kicker was very good, as I said before they dominated us up front. But to say it could have been worse, if we didn’t give them the ball inside our twenty two time due to our own turnovers it could have been one sided in our favor as well. That’s some more context. Waverly is best team we play this year. They could beat us bad or not. We could start 1-2 and win out and win another gold ball as well.
Re: WK 3: Unioto (1-1) at Waverly (2-0)
Waverly is always the favorite in this game. I would be curious to know how many times they have even lost to a Svc school, my guess is it is only handful. Rarely is this game competitive, in our two wins they were the better team. Last time we won every call went our way and they played bad and it was much closer than the score. I felt like last year we had the team to beat them but we struggle against football schools. Everyone has to play lights out and we need to be lucky. I will say if they get up on us they won’t just run out the clock like they did last week if they can score 100 on us they will. If we can be in the game in the 4th it would be a huge accomplishment for our guys.
Re: WK 3: Unioto (1-1) at Waverly (2-0)
In the Amanda thread I said they won because they ran for 400 and we ran for 0. That obviously implies they won in the trenches. We started in our own 20 almost every time and they started at midfield. Idk anything about Amanda. Just talking about Unioto. All I said is that we had multiple linemen that were sick or playing hurt who had to play both sides all game. 400-0 is still horrible and idk how much it would’ve changed but still. Also we turned it over 4-5 timesgreygoose wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 8:52 amThanks for the information, always funny how one side of it doesn't mention all of those things. Re: WK 3: Unioto (1-1) at Waverly (2-0)
Amanda had a very fast running back and we had no one to stop him. Nobody could get the edge and they ran an HB pitch almost every play and there were no adjustments.
Re: WK 3: Unioto (1-1) at Waverly (2-0)
I feel like just recently all of our best athletes come out for football. Probably why we’ve had our 2 best seasons ever the last 2 years. Hopefully we can become more of a football program but it takes time. When we had those good basketball teams from 2014-17 I only remember a couple of those guys playing football.Rolltanks wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 11:19 am Waverly is always the favorite in this game. Sherman faithful trying to suck us in. The visiting team has won this game the last 4 years and we saw what they did to VC week 1. Unioto is the favorite in this one. Waverly will have to play much better than they did last week to go to 3-0.
Re: WK 3: Unioto (1-1) at Waverly (2-0)
Waverly are 21 point favorites on Fantastic 50. Just got out rushed by 400 against Amanda. Throw in a young QB, 0 line depth and no running backs. Waverly are pretty heavy favorites. Vinton County was way worse than we thought they’d besmurray wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2024 3:58 pm Sherman faithful trying to suck us in. Good luck to Waverly…they’ve been a pleasant surprise so far this year. Looks like a team that can challenge for SOC title.*

The defense has kept them in it but the offense has just got on track.
