Re: 9/7 Cabell Midland v Ironton @ Marshall
Again a week 1 start for Midland vs Ironton with 2 weeks on the road vs rivals under their belt, coming into a season with not a lotta senior leadership and a new coach is tough business for the Knights.
Ironton should handle business here and it will be time to get ready for the first home game vs Buffalo Ny St Francis in the Classic.
St francis opens this saturday vs Cleveland Benedictine btw.
Will CB/WR Josh Johnson be available for the Tigers vs Midland? How bout the starting lineman? What are the injuries?

As long as you have Terry on the field, you could have freshman lineman out there. Out of all the Ironton "D1's", this kid actually passes the eye test. Carrico was too. Terry can get the tigers the championship.Jawnjkang98 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 9:05 am Again a week 1 start for Midland vs Ironton with 2 weeks on the road vs rivals under their belt, coming into a season with not a lotta senior leadership and a new coach is tough business for the Knights.

From what I've heard they both have not practiced this week.Jawnjkang98 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 9:05 am Again a week 1 start for Midland vs Ironton with 2 weeks on the road vs rivals under their belt, coming into a season with not a lotta senior leadership and a new coach is tough business for the Knights.

Thanks. Any idea what the injuries are? Must be fairly signicant injury for Johnson. Going on 3 weeks no dress.WinnerWinner wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 12:17 pmFrom what I've heard they both have not practiced this week.Jawnjkang98 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2024 9:05 am Again a week 1 start for Midland vs Ironton with 2 weeks on the road vs rivals under their belt, coming into a season with not a lotta senior leadership and a new coach is tough business for the Knights.

Based on enrollment CM would easily be D1 in Ohio.lawrenceco80 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 10:12 am Cabell Midland will be D 3 in Ohio.
They Return 3-4 OL from last year. They will be good up front as well as Deep upfront.
Midland's Offense is suspect with a lot of negative reports leaking out in the last 2 weeks. Also, lost their best OL from last year to Huntington High.
Close game early on. Terry goes off in the second half

Correct. Midland enrollment is 2,000 kids. 1,961 students. That is a D1 Ohio school.Carmen Ohio wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 10:21 amBased on enrollment CM would easily be D1 in Ohio.lawrenceco80 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2024 10:12 am Cabell Midland will be D 3 in Ohio.

With football being based off male students (51% of midlands enrollment, right at 1000 males) they would be in the top 10 in Ohio's division 1.Jawnjkang98 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 10:34 amCorrect. Re: 9/7 Cabell Midland v Ironton @ Marshall
It's split almost 50/50 since WV counts total enrollment and the SSAC classifies schools with over 828 students as AAAA**.Jeaux Burreaux wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 3:36 pm That is almost every AAAA school in West Virginia would be D I I’d say
If we go off of the assumption that 50-52% of the school's enrollment is male, it would breakdown something close to this:
OHSAA DI
Cabell Midland (Ona) - 1938
Hedgesville - 1257
Huntington - 1602
Hurricane - 1282
Jefferson (Shenandoah Junction) - 1400
Martinsburg - 1400
Morgantown - 1850
Musselman - 1678
Parkersburg - 1742
Parkersburg South - 1576
Spring Mills (Martinsburg) - 1450
University (Morgantown) - 1250
Washington (Charles Town) - 1300
Woodrow Wilson (Beckley) - 1253
OHSAA DII
Buckhannon Upshur - 1062
Capital (Charleston) - 1025
George Washington (Charleston) - 1197
Greenbrier East (Lewisburg) - 1150
John Marshall (Moundsville) - 1100
Oak Hill - 1098
Preston (Bruceton Mills) - 1059
Princeton - 986
Riverside (Belle) - 1059
South Charleston - 938
Spring Valley (Huntington) - 996
St Albans - 901
Wheeling Park - 1148
** - Several schools appealed their placement in AAAA and got dropped back down to AAA.

On paper, Ironton should win big, but even with graduation hitting them, Midland still probably has 2-3 platoons worth on each side.

Yeah the fact they let some AAAA schools drop down to AAA and got APPROVED to do it is a joke. They have roughly 18 I believe AAAA schools this year and 16 will make the playoffs. Thank goodness we don’t have that issue here. We just nearly let everyone in from the jump in all 7 divisions LOL

For what it’s worth, I personally multiply the WVSSAC enrollment number by .36 to fit the WV school into OHSAA classification.dantargaryen wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 7:14 pmIt's split almost 50/50 since WV counts total enrollment and the SSAC classifies schools with over 828 students as AAAA**.Jeaux Burreaux wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 3:36 pm That is almost every AAAA school in West Virginia would be D I I’d say

IIRC, the average school-aged breakdown is 48:52 male y to female. My rough guess without looking at the list too hard is WV has about six schools that would be D1. CM being one of them.

John Marshall, Oak Hill, Preston, St. Albans, Spring Valley, Buckhannon-Upshur, Capital, Riverside, South Charleston, Greenbrier East, and Princeton were originally classified as AAAA and dropped down to AAA after the appeal. I could understand South Charleston and St Albans dropping down because they have less than 1000 kids. I can even defend Oak Hill dropping down because, honestly, they only have that many kids because of recent consolidation. But some of those other schools like SV, Princeton, and Capital should be AAAA - they have the athletes to compete up there, heck, Princeton was in the AAA state championship game last year. Greenbrier East and RIverside aren't usually known as "football schools," and honestly, both are just big schools by virtue of being the only high school in that area of the county. We'll see how things shake out after this year. Its kinda weird that AAAA has 16 schools and all the other classes have 30+ schools.

Sidenote. Martinsburg is embarrassing Huntington. 47 - 15. No surprise. It doesn't matter what ya do with the big school classifications in WV really. The seperation between #1 & everybody else is light years.dantargaryen wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 7:52 pmJeaux Burreaux wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 7:35 pm Yeah the fact they let some AAAA schools drop down to AAA and got APPROVED to do it is a joke. Ps. AAA Bridgeport 49. AAAA Morgantown 0.
None of it makes sense. It doesn't matter. Martinsburg is gonna beat whoever #2 is by 40.

Morgantown is down to their 3rd string qb and Bridgeport is fresh off a trip to the state title and returned a bulk of their players. Martinsburg is leaps and bounds ahead of everyone in WV it is absurdJawnjkang98 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 9:29 pmSidenote. Martinsburg is embarrassing Huntington. 47 - 15. No surprise. Yup. The Bulldogs are a whole other animal in WV. Some Virginia schools do beat them though but for the most part nobody in WV can really compete with that program.Jeaux Burreaux wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 9:47 pmMorgantown is down to their 3rd string qb and Bridgeport is fresh off a trip to the state title and returned a bulk of their players.
