Both teams 0-2. North Union got drilled by Marion Pleasant in the first week. Then, lost to Liberty Union 39-34. ZT defeated North Union on a late FG last year 17-14.

ZT has dug a hole their first two games early and could not get out of it. The ZT secondary has not played well. The offense has shown some moments, but very little consistency which could have to do with the QB being out since the first quarter against Logan Elm.

This is a very winnable game for Zane Trace if the QB plays or not. The backup QB is improving, but lacks experience.

North Union plays in the smaller division of the Central Buckeye Conference. They are a D5 school. They do cross over and play a couple schools from the bigger division each season. Next week, they open league play against Jonathan Alder.

Last year’s game was a tight one at ZT as the Pioneers pulled it out late 17-14.

Wet night at North Union. Rained most of the first three quarters. Bad snaps, fumbles and holders not hanging onto the ball. Both teams gave the other a safety in the first quarter on bad punt snaps. 2-2 after 1

North Union scored on a halfback pass on a 4th and 4 to take an 8-2 lead at the half. Missed PAT.

ZT scored on a 3 yard run in the third quarter to tie the game 8-8. The PAT went right through the holder’s hands, so 8-8 still.

The Pioneers had a another good drive late in the third and early 4th, but was stopped at the 6 yard line. A 24 yard FG attempt to tie the game was mishandled. Still 8-8 with 10 minutes left.

Then, North Union went on a 94 yard drive with their Wing T offense that took seven minutes off the clock. All runs except two huge passes in the flats. The last one was for a 15 yard TD to make it 14-8. PAT blocked.

Zane Trace had one last chance and actually threw two balls into the endzone, but time ran out.

Man, doesn't sound like ZT is going to push for any SVC title this year. SVC runs through PV this year

Was at the game - can blame weather all you want but just same sloppy play. Losing QB hasn’t helped but not a good looking team at present. My kids played in this program years ago and seems like the “edge” is gone.

Idk those three teams would be favored vs any Svc school I think zt will be one of the top teams like normal

North Union would not be favored against every SVC school. They were OK and well coached especially running the wing T offense. They are undersized for the league that they play in as they play Jonathan Alder next week.

I was not blaming the weather. Just stating facts. Both teams had equal mistakes especially in the kicking game.
North Union's grass field was really nice.

Last year north union lost to Urbana by 3 and Urbana crushed us. I think Svc is bad this year just my opinion. Should be interesting when we get to Svc play.
