Week 3: West (0-2) at Hillsboro (1-1)

Wow. Never thought in a million years heading into week 3 we would be looking at 0-3 in the face. I dont know the first thing about Hillsboro this year, but based on our play thus far, I dont think any game on the schedule is a gimme. This might be the most embarrassing season I have witnessed in all of my years supporting this school. Especially when you account for expectations heading into the season. People and myself included talking about competing for the SOC and possibly playing for a regional championship. Shoot, at this point I would be tickled to see more than 7 points on the board. There has been 0 bright spots that would lead me to believe this ship will get turned around either. Some of the worst secondary play I have ever witnessed. Scared arm tackles. Cant throw the ball. Cant catch the ball. Have running backs that should be putting up video game numbers behind these supposedly college level lineman, but cant seem to get a push at the LOS at all. So does this come back to coaching? How do we have talented kids and have been outscored 75-7 in two games. Something better change quick. I don't have a prediction this week. Cross the fingers and hope we look like a respectable football program. Underperformance is an understatement at this point.

West is 4-2 all time against Hillsboro, with the two losses coming in the late 40's.

Then don't come to the games if its so bad.

Been through every season since I’ve been born and supported during the good and bad. Sounds like someone can’t handle criticism. Prolly the reason we are at this point

Big win by West to hopefully right the ship a little bit, they've got another winnable game next week against Chillicothe and with Chillicothe being D3 that'll help come playoff time

So I found this on OHSAA for points:

Wins over a Division I school - 6.5 points
Wins over a Division II school - 6.0 points
Wins over a Division III school - 5.5 points
Wins over a Division IV school - 5.0 points
Wins over a Division V school - 4.5 points
Wins over a Division VI school - 4.0 points
Wins over a Division VII school - 3.5 points

Hillsboro should win a few games which also helps with second level points.

Hillsboro wasn’t world beaters by any stretch, but that’s not a bad ball team either. D6 team on the road against a D3 team after a weather delay and did what they needed to do to grab a W. Sucks cause the stream ended before the 4the hatter but the line looked much better and was finally able to get Parker and Bishop some yards. Defense still wasn’t beautiful but some of the younger kids grew up a little last night. Way too many mistakes still but this is a step in the right direction . Hillsboro will give us some playoff points for sure

Nice win for West, Hillsboro has a decent team. Looking ahead maybe my Bearcats can host you guys in rd 2 of the playoffs, I don't believe PV and PW have ever been in the same playoff region in the past. Would be a good matchup, good luck the rest of the reg season.

The stream buffered bad and cut out late in the third completely. I didn’t see this exact play, but I will say offociating looked bad and confused the entire game. I could tell that with a spotty video

Dang, no idea on that. Spoke with a buddy who is a head official and he's saying how the state wants them to go to 6 man crews but they're lucky to get enough for 5. Officiating is really really bad right now, went to a game last night some of the worst I've seen so far this young season.

Following the touchback, Hillsboro ran a fake to the FB, but the QB pulled it and went around the end. Nobody was close to him and he was easily going to score. QB was 20 yards down field when they blew the play dead. Explanation was they thought the FB had the ball and was stopped. After the incorrect stoppage they gave Hillsboro the ball at the 40 yard line and resumed play. Tough break for Hillsboro as that would have tied the game and given them the chance to take the lead.
