Keep it up on your suggestions every day maybe after 70 days of breaking the games down come the 71st day they will hopefully take your comments and change everything. Good Luck on your play calling and Coaching. Wow Im suprised that your not a Head Coach somewhere, but maybe one day youll get your chance, keep on doing your analysis every day! Very interesting take on each game and each play. I bet you will be happy this week , Northwest should be a good test for 0-3 Pirates. I predict a 60-7 score Pirates.
They probably should listen. They are 0 and 3, 2 of which were running clocks. They are also now 1 and forever combined vs Ironton, Jackson, and Prep over the last three seasons with an extremely high likelihood for that hole to get deeper in just a couple of weeks after they go on their lil mini softball weeks run and get some confidence back.

Did you ever play football? If so, you should not find my comments unusual or over the top. They are nothing new to anyone that has played, and specifically those who played at Burg under Miller and/or Hall; two coaches who know/knew a thing or two about football. Also the comments match what Kirtland and the MAC schools practice. Again, schools and coaches that have had “some” success playing this game.

IHS changed their coach due to performance. Pendleton and his coaches visited ML this past offseason to learn from one of the best programs. Pendleton just hired a proven OC to take Ironton’s offense to the next level. IHS and Pendleton are making the changes they need to get over the hump. Meanwhile, what have Burg coaches done to improve the program of late? What changes are they making to be more competitive in D5? Etc?

But the Burg coaches don’t need to hear from me on this, they are hearing plenty from those that live in town and have significant influence on the Burg schools. Keep losing to IHS, Jackson, and HP each year, and those talks will get serious.

As for me going into coaching, there’s no money in it. These guys get paid well for the area and when compared to other teachers, but those salaries are low in my industry.

That said, I was under the impression that this site exists for talking football. Given Burg’s performance this year, seems like a good topic to discuss. But maybe I need to adopt the new style that doesn’t care about results. Start believing in participation trophies. I’m sure that’s what coach Miller would do if he were still alive.

Went 5-5 and lost to Minford twice that year. As mentioned before this team is lacking all around. Fundamentals and conditioning a big area. I remember the Burg having small linemen and blowing big kids off the ball. Is it lack of talent or coaching? Hard to say but I'll still root for them. And I'll say this, with their schedule, they have no fear of playing the better teams in the region. Go Burg.
Complacency. While burg was busy telling everyone about their "superior coaching & culture" they slipped back and programs like Ironton and Prep passed em up and outworked em in the offseason.
As much as I hate to say this, you are right. Sure, IHS and HP have more talent, but teams like those in the MAC and Kirtland have less talent but still can compete.

The blueprint for success in Ohio small school football is out there to learn from. Will Burg coaches consider this and make necessary changes to the program, or will they remain stubborn and set in their ways as Burg continues to rack up losses to the good teams on their schedule?

Good question.

Evan’s is the best athlete Burg has this year so let’s keep lining him up at WR and get him the ball maybe 5 times a game.

Does he not want to be the RB? He has the physique and speed to be RB1 but they keep running 22 and 11. Neither of them have breakaway speed like I think Evan’s has.

The short passes to McGraw were working. How about one time you fake the curl and send him?

Also, losing Cantrell on the line is going to be huge. Injury bug seems to be hitting Burg hard.

By jackson standards this is a very avg team. Very beatable. Very well coached but the worst Jackson team I’ve seen for a few yrs. Came down to there players wanted the W more. Burg just doesn’t have many football players. Remind me of some of the former Portsmouth teams, more interested in how they look than snapping up the helmets and actually playing football and doing what’s necessary to win on and off the field. This offseason will be a pivotal one, figure out the issues and make the necessary changes or continue to fade farther into mediocrity.

Vass before transfers 229-75 burg 5-1, Pendleton and transfers 211-84 6-2 ironton

Jackson may down by their standards. I would agree with that.
This team has a very good chance to go 9 and 1, 8 and 2 at the worst.
Alot of teams would love to have that problem for sure. lol
