WK 4 Federal Hocking (1-2) @ Belpre (0-3)
WK 4 Federal Hocking (1-2) @ Belpre (0-3)
This series started in 1969 with Belpre winning 32-20. Belpre leads this series 40-8-2. The last game played was in 2021 with Belpre winning 45-0. They did not play in 2020,2022 or 2023.
FH has 1 win vs Trinity Christian by a score of 8-0 and has been shutout in their other 2 games 42-0 and 30-0.
Belpre has lost their 3 games by the scores of 59-12, 72-6 and 44-0.
Both teams are trying to rebuild their respective programs. FH has 31 players on their roster and Belpre 22.
From looking at everything, this should be a much more evenly matched contest for both teams however it will generate interest only with the 2 schools, teams, coaches, parents and fans. Belpre has played better competition than FH but that doesn't mean much with both teams struggling in all parts of the game. At least this game appears to be one that may not be a running clock game.
In my opinion, both teams should have this game circled on their schedule as one of their few winnable games based on the first 3 games of the season.
Belpre should get the win, I hope, provided they start executing ALL parts of the game (mental and physical) and gain some much needed confidence.
Good luck and good health to both teams.
As always...

I’ll be taking this one in. Should be a good one. It’s great to see both programs getting back on track. Good luck to both teams and good health to all involved.

This was a simple case of one team believing more than the other. But they ain’t no quit in my boyz. They gonna get back to believing at some point. I predict it will happen soon. You gotta believe.

FH 48 - 40 OT final
This was one of the best, competitive HS football games that I have seen in decades. Two teams with a combined record of 1-5 and both rebuilding their programs left their hearts and souls on the field last night. I tip my cap to them. The atmosphere was great, 2 very good HS bands playing and the crowd was into the spirit. Made for a great night of HS football. It was definitely the thrill of victory for FH and the agony of defeat for Belpre but both teams learned a lot about themselves.
Yeah, both teams have a lot of things to work on but they are both getting better and understanding that improvement has a price and that is hard work every day.
Belpre can't let this get them down because they lost. We need to get ready for Beallsville next week and get our first win of the season.
Best of luck to FH the rest of the season.

Coach Ralph Holder wouldn’t have let a team get beat by Fed Hock.
I have questions about what’s going on with football.

But your team did set a school record for giving up 81 points in a game. Should be proud for all you did for Belpre. Now go “believe” somewhere else.

Re: WK 4 Federal Hocking (1-2) @ Belpre (0-3)
I was at the game, second Belpre game I've taken in this year. Congrats to Fed Hock on a big win, you got it done when you had to. Fed has some kids that will hit you, and are fearless. That helped them immensely in this game. I feel bad for the kids from Belpre, they are paying the price for the three year JB experiment that was an abject failure. Overall, their tackling is poor, and their pursuit angles on defense are just really bad. Fed was making money on kickoff returns due to the poor pursuit angles and lack of discipline of some of the players on the kick off team, not staying in their lanes and losing containment. Fed saw problems with one side of Belpre's kick off team, and repeatedly returned the kickoffs to the same side of the field every time, and ended up with great field position. Last night was week four, this deficiency should have been addressed by now. The Eagles go to Beallsville this week and honestly have a winnable game, if they can reduce turnovers and mental errors that have plagued them in the two games I've watched them play. Good luck to the Lancers and the Golden Eagles the rest of the season.

To be fair to the Belpre coaches, they had an only kicked it off six times prior to week four. And a lot of programs these days are only assigning things like walk-throughs toward special teams preparation.Steely Dan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 12:17 pm Fed saw problems with one side of Belpre's kick off team, and repeatedly returned the kickoffs to the same side of the field every time, and ended up with great field position. I’m definitely not a JB fan but you can’t keep blaming the total lack of preparation and fundamentals on him. KW has been in charge long enough to be held accountable for that.Steely Dan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 12:17 pm I was at the game, second Belpre game I've taken in this year. If they’re only doing walkthroughs for ST’s then it’s their fault when things don’t work well.formerfcfan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 1:45 pmTo be fair to the Belpre coaches, they had an only kicked it off six times prior to week four. Maybe ALL OF US SHOULD GO TO A PRACTICE from what I SEE ITS PROBABLY HARD TO do with only 14-16 KIDS DRESSED FOR PRACTICE!!! Maybe some of us should walk the halls and try to recruit kids to come out yes JB set program back years with his conduct with some kids and now some kids won't play because of him still.no excuse. Then soccer has also hurt the FB program I mean why have a program that doesn't compete for anything but yet they will try to go undefeated on a jv schedule. Instead of arguing WHY DONT SOME OF YOU try to go to a practice and see for yourself how the coaches are conducting practice instead of thinking your the God's gift of Nick Sabban footballeagle25 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 1:50 pmIf they’re only doing walkthroughs for ST’s then it’s their fault when things don’t work well.formerfcfan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 1:45 pmTo be fair to the Belpre coaches, they had an only kicked it off six times prior to week four. Well, perhaps the first call to order is for you to buy some Charmin wet wipes and use them to cool off your sore bottom. There may be one or two posts that have sort of called out the coaches, but lets get real here. We are to the half way point of the regular season, and the lack of fundamental football skills and the lack of coaching adjustments are not helping the Golden Eagles. If you can't put down your horse blinders and see what is wrong with the program, maybe it's time you take a step back and let things play themselves out, with the current coaching staff.96Champ wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 6:32 pmMaybe ALL OF US SHOULD GO TO A PRACTICE from what I SEE ITS PROBABLY HARD TO do with only 14-16 KIDS DRESSED FOR PRACTICE!!! Re: WK 4 Federal Hocking (1-2) @ Belpre (0-3)
Belpre doesn’t have a coaching problem. When your players have as much inexperience as they do you’re going to have fundamental breakdowns and missed assignments and it wouldn’t matter who is coaching. Most of their players are learning the basics of football. And at the high school level, that’s an Ingredient for headaches. Federal is in the same boat. They just made one more play than Belpre did to win the game. Im sure all the Belpre faithful would love to see Ralph Holder return and bring Belpre back to their glory days but for some who can remember, he was 2-8 as a head coach his first year. He didn’t give up on the program and now the stadium is named after him. I don’t think the current coaches are going to give up on the program either. Good luck Eagles!Steely Dan wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 9:48 pmWell, perhaps the first call to order is for you to buy some Charmin wet wipes and use them to cool off your sore bottom.
