40-0 Portsmouth at the half. 2 blocked punts and close to double digit sacks, and a whole bunch of rushing yards for the Trojans. Worst Gallia team I’ve seen, 2 first downs maybe, I’d say close to negative total yards. They haven’t given up yet though, so there’s some heart there.

Portsmouth 47
GA 0

Start of the 4th.

Boys in blue with a lot of players out with injuries. Hate to see it.

Any truth to the rumor I heard tonight that Gallia actually lost their QB for the year due to an altercation with a coach? I was told the QB tonight wasn’t the kid who started the first 3 weeks. Not that it would’ve mattered a whole lot, they are down bad this year. Low numbers, bad OL, no real playmakers. They might beat South Point, maybe.

Not sure. I know he was limping a lot last week or the week prior. Could be a nagging injury

Kole knew what was coming. I think he was gonna be gone soon anyway. This team simply lacks experienced talent. They are simply down. Way down. Losing 14 seniors devastated the program for now. Happy for Coach Carter for taking his chance.

Not sure if there is another program in SEO more devastated by politics than GA. Some may argue River Valley, but when you look at the carousel of pretty good coaches railroaded out of GA over the last eight or nine years, it is hard to argue that GA isn't the graveyard of decent, young coaches.

You could be right about Penrod.. i just remember him leaving because his wife was having some medical issues and he wanted to be there for his kids.

Also love the historical information... and this is a serious question.... how long would it have taken to get a team from gallia to portsmouth or vice versa....in 1915...?? Horse and buggy? Did they take the river? What is it about 100 miles? Would love to hear that story..
It's possible they took a boat but I would guess they took a train. Railways were much more abundant in those days. It's also only 42 miles by modern road so I'd say a train ride wouldn't be much longer than an hour or two.

Never thought about a train.. but bein here in Collis P's shadow I should have... lol. Was just wondering... it's easy to forget how different gettin around was.. also wasn't thinking about goin straight east/west...(35) bein on the southern end of the area...it's 50 miles to porst..and 50 miles to gallia from my place..
