WK:5 (0-4) Valley @ (1-3) Wheelersburg
Re: WK:5 (0-4) Valley @ (1-3) Wheelersburg
Someone needs to start a thread about Burg where all the Ironton posters can go and flex their muscles instead of sabotaging all the game threads.
As for the topic of Burg vs Valley, I hope Valley can hang with Burg much like they did with Waverly. DB's are a huge issue for Valley and I can see Burg trying to take advantage of that. McNeil loss hurts, but they have to have others step up and play hard. My biggest question without McNeil is who is going to give Aaron a breather at RB?

Burg has played the non-conference schedule they have in order to prepare for these SOC games, Burg by 21

The only teams that were supposed to smoke Valley have super close games. Valley is no push over and Aaron will give them all they can handle and more

Northwest was in the game the first half, it was 7-0 LATE in the half. If NW doesn't go bland with 3 consecutive tosses out of the shotgun(Idk what that was about) and scores to go into the locker room 14-7, who knows how that could of swung momentum. As for this game, Valley gets better every week, would not be surprised to see a competitive game here.

My heart says Valley, but I believe the Pirates get win 2, on their way to another SOC trophy.

This game will be way closer than anyone is imagining. Indians have been in every game and had Waverly with their back against the wall with seconds left. #22 Aaron will be more than Burg can handle in my opinion and Valley just needs to get off the field on 3rd downs and contain the penalties.

In the end Wheelersburg wins by 1 or 60, how do you get computer points against a 0-4 team!

I agree, this burg team is a soft football team. If valley can keep it close into the second half this burg squad will do what they do when things get tuff, quitcg20 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 8:11 pm This game will be way closer than anyone is imagining. There is only 1 point game left which is waverly and I wouldn’t be shocked if they lost that one. I can’t see any way they get a home playoff game. A loss to waverly puts them 5-5 and a low seed which will probably be a week 11 loss which would be another great accomplishment by this team, first losing record since 2000.Prime Time wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 4:36 pm In the end Wheelersburg wins by 1 or 60, how do you get computer points against a 0-4 team!

I don't think that anyone on SEOP has any doubt that Valley will play very hard and give an all-out effort. Even though Burg has an overall 1-3 record, I doubt that there are any other SEO teams that playing the same schedule would have a better record. Regardless, I think that the Pirates will be a little too much for the Indians. Let's hope that both teams have an injury free game.

I talked with McNeil at a volleyball game and he has torn mcl and out for the season. That Will really hurt Valley the rest of the year

That kid is super good. Sucks. Burg lost one of their linebackers. Same injurytwoboys-02 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2024 5:27 pm I talked with McNeil at a volleyball game and he has torn mcl and out for the season. That Will really hurt Valley the rest of the year

That’s really rough for Valley. McNeil was a difference maker on both sides of the ball. The Aaron kid has been great at RB, but Valley’s defense is hurt the worst by this. I was very impressed with how hard Valley played and competed after losing McNeil last week. I think it was in the 1st quarter just like Piketon.

Absolutely getting transfers is OK. It's a big part of high school football. Successful programs understand that. Bad programs stuck in the past dont.fbnut wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 1:27 pmSo you admit ironton is having the success they are having because of recruiting but you think that’s ok?The Nature Boy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 1:21 pm So, I'm glad Ironton is doing well. Yes, there was a time when Burg was head and shoulders above everyone else. I thought it was cool 2 schools from Southern Ohio brought home state titles in 1989. Coach Hall never lost an SOC game. That's back when the SOC was competitive every year. It seems like it is this year only in a reverse way, backwards. Let's hope all the schools strive to get better. It does come in cycles but no excuses about recruiting or getting kids from some where else. In Central Ohio it is a way of life. The kids go where they can win and have the best chance to go to college. In my mind, no harm in that.

Interesting, you may want to let Marion Local know that because their CB is 1. Should also tell the rest of the MAC conference that as well. They too get few to no transfers: Coldwater CB = 4, Versailles CB = 2.
Might also want to let Kirtland know that. They have a whopping CB of 3!
Each of these teams have won more state titles than IHS and Burg combined, yet transfers are a rarity for them.

.and allegedly "homegrown" SOFTburg never has transfers either and YET they are 1 and 14 combined vs Ironton, Jackson and Prep over the past 4 seasons.RBH23 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 11:56 pm“It's a big part of high school football. Does that mean what burg grows at home sucks? Lmao
