Symmes Valley just had their opponent cancel. It's a haul between teams and I'm sure SV wants no part of WM

No way is the 35-player roster team going to play another 35-player roster team. There's playoffs at stake, man.

River View’s football program is in a very dark place. Extremely unfortunate for the kids. Hope they can get things figured out. I believe last year they had somewhere in the range of 20 of 40 players as freshman.

They still have to play Sheridan, TV, and John Glenn the next 3 weeks. Those teams better start looking for opponents if they can muster up one.

Feel bad for the kids for both teams. Not a great look for the MVL. You welcomed RV back into the league. Nobody to blame but yourselves.

I’m trying to figure that one out myself. That district has been an absolute mess, and it’s probably worse since the Conesville power plant shut down.

I’m going to LARP someone on That Other Board and say that River View and Coshocton should consolidate.

I may be wrong but is the entirety of Coshocton's School District enclosed by River Views School District? I thought I saw that once but I cannot remember?

For the most part, yes. It looks like part of the eastern boundary touches Ridgewood.

River View has a really strong and good soccer program. Baseball program has been pretty good/respectable. Basketball has been subpar for a while, but football has just not been good. They have had a lack of linemen for years.

This year they have a varsity team and a freshmen team. Tough choice - play varsity opponents with a not so good freshmen team and some varsity players or cancel. 4 straight weeks of playoff level opponents then final 2 games against teams with few if any wins who will still beat them soundly.

By the way, River View enrollment is experiencing a steady downward trend. They are headed to the small school MVL in the future..... but depending on other schools it is at least 4 years away if not longer.

Unfortunately, that's the state of football in our area now..just not alot of Freshman teams left...and it's getting worse and crossing over into other sports like baseball and basketball. But, if they have a choice as you indicated, the choice is to play. Depriving the kids and their opponents of a game is not cool. Everyone knows that they weren't going to compete anyway. Hopefully the other teams can find opponents.
