No. Most D1 and D2 schools would beat them by 3-4 touchdowns. Many D3 and D4 schools would beat them, too.
Ironton is having a good season. Just enjoy it and hope that they make a deep playoff run and stay healthy.

I would stay in D5 for now. From looking at other D5 regions, there are some good teams out there. I'm not taking anything away from Ironton. They are right up there with the best. Region 19 is one of the weakest and other than Harvest Prep, I don't see them being challenged. Should be a dandy final four in D5 this year.

No and it’s not a knock on them but the bigger schools are too much.

How about they worry about being competitive in a D5 State Championship game first

Stick with D-5. I think a team with an elite QB picks them apart.

No. Most teams, probably. Any team? No. Good DI and DII programs would have them looking like deer in headlights. Maybe up to DIII, but they'd have their hands full with the top DIII and DIV teams. Glenville would be uniquely capable of being a DIV program with the speed to match up with someone like Terry on the outside. Licking Valley, Granville, Massie, they'd all challenge Ironton.

Don’t like comparing scores, but Ursuline lost to Walsh Jesuit by 2. Jesuit in the power rankings are 5th in the state. We beat Hartley a little worse than Ursuline. And yes Jesuit I think is D1.Don’t let divisions confuse you.

Yeah divisions can be confusing because there are teams in D6 and D7 Ironton can't beatartisgilmore wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 1:47 pm Don’t like comparing scores, but Ursuline lost to Walsh Jesuit by 2. WJ is D2.artisgilmore wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2024 1:47 pm Don’t like comparing scores, but Ursuline lost to Walsh Jesuit by 2. Jesuit in the power rankings are 5th in the state. We beat Hartley a little worse than Ursuline. And yes Jesuit I think is D1.Don’t let divisions confuse you.
That said, Ironton could definitely compete against the top schools from D3 down. There are a number of teams that would probably best IHS: Kirtland, ML, Glenville…. but IHS could not doubt play with all of them.
But once you get into the cream of the crop in D2 and D1, it’s a different story.
Good thing is we will see soon enough as HP plays LaSalle. LaSalle is ranked #12 in D2. See how HP holds up against a top 15 D2 school. Compare that to how HP plays Ironton.
