Trimble @ Southern

Post by Billy T Kid »

Thoughts?

Trimble will head back on the road for the fifth time in the last six weeks. I’m sure they are ready to be back home but they gotta take care of business this week first. Good luck to both teams.

Southern blew their chance to beat Trimble this century the last time they played them in Racine. It’s probably been 50 years or so. Will Cassie be able to stay composed enough to win this time? Doubtful, but at least they have a puncher’s chance.

You’re on the money. Southerns last win against the Cats was in 1973. That’s insane.

Trimble is under .500 overall (12-14) in the last 2 1/2 seasons and they still can't beat them. But you're right, they do have a punchers chance if Trimble gets turnover happy.

Noticed an 18 year gap between 1974-1992 when they didn't play each other, any particular reason why?

Could have been because Trimble was in the Ohio division of the TVC. Belpre, Trimble, and Nelsonville were all small schools in the Ohio during that time period. But I don’t think that’s entirely accurate because I thought I saw Trimble joined the Ohio in the early 80s.

Trimble was never in the TVC Ohio. Before 1993, all schools in the TVC played each other. In 93, the Hocking and Ohio divisions were added. Southern was in the SVAC until that time too.

You’re exactly right. Should’ve thought that one through little more! Thanks for the correction.

I think the Tornadoes find their spark early in the game with Nathan Schuster paving the way in the passing game. Brandon Laudermilt I'd say is due for a few td catches. Now the offense may shine but the defense has too many concerns to dive into. The Tomcats arent the powerhouse they used to be. 56-52 Tornadoes.

Thank you both for your response. Noticed that they also must have played in the regular season as well as the Playoffs in 2016.

Yes sir. That year Trimble ended up #4 and Southern #5 in region 27.

Unfortunately you are not wrong. From what I remember playing in high school, Southern was always a little tougher when they play home. With the Cats turnover issues, and Southern being home, it could get interesting. Pulling for the Cats of course, just hope we don’t back ourselves into a corner.

Hoping the Cats got the fumbles out of their system last week. I really think Trimble is at least 20 points better than Southern but they will have to prove that on Friday night.

I remember that game southern got the lead and the reffs called the game that is how they won that year.

I believe I heard that Coach Faires was on that team. I’m sure he has a few stories.
