Tanks Memorial Stadium Damage

Post by REDMEN95 »

I heard that there is more damage than anticipated. Also heard that all little league games have been canceled for the rest of this year do to the damages. Anyone know if this is true and if the Fighting Tigers will have to play their remaining home games elsewhere?

So they can spend a bunch of time picking up the debris of a damaged dome the next time a natural disaster happens?

The biggest thing is how they gonna get someone to work on fixing it? Probably won’t be until next spring to find someone.

No more games at Tanks this year. Maybe Green could keep the lights on for us.

Really?? No idea how anyone is able to put up a dome if that's the case LOL. Is the South Webster bubble still standing?

Any word on the extent of the damage? Are they gonna play anymore there this year?

Waiting on structural engineers to come and assess damages. They're hoping to be able to play last regular season game and home playoff games there.
-Holes in the roof
-Flooding in the locker rooms and under stadium
-Roof partially ripped off from the structure

Hopefully, they can put a bandaid on it for a couple of playoff games

Not sure you can put a bandaid on it. What if the wind blows during a game? Can’t have pieces of roof falling while thousands are there.

Wishful thinking for the kids sake, especially the seniors.

Hopefully for the kids sake they'll be able to make the necessary repairs to be able to play their playoff games there. But I don't know with it being deemed as a historical site there may be some extra hoops to jump through as far as work permits goes.

From what I've heard, the stadium is fixable, but they are unsure how soon or long it could take to complete. Another source has mentioned that the groundbreaking for the new stadium could begin as soon as the end of October and be something like they did with Cinergy Field/Great American Ballpark. SFR Stadium at Bob Lutz Field with Coach Pendleton's name included on the Fieldhouse/Weightroom and recruiting offices for kids to use for declaration signings and visiting recruiting coach/family meetings. The scoreboard will be reused and just taken down and installed in the new location, possibly installing a second screen in the opposite endzone for a completely new look. Possible "suites" like a college campus could be a reality to promote new sponsors along with Schmidt Family Restaurants (Think of Corporate sponsorships from Wendy's and Buffalo Wild Wings).

Heard this also from some insider Ironton faithfuls. If true then no one around here should ever schedule Ironton University again.
