Crazy program Maria Stein has. They win out the regular season, they’ll be tied with Ironton at 58 consecutive wins. A record that’s been held since 1983.

Yeah and quite frankly ML streak is much much more impressive the MAC is so tough and extremely competitive to think they've gone that long without a loss is amazing and they just took Versailles to the wood shed this week and they were state ranked and undefeated in DV.

I don’t know a ton about the MAC other than they are freakin tough. You think Coldwater (currently 6-0) will be a test for Stein week 10, or do they run through them as well?

I thought delphos had the record of 57? Didn’t think ironton won that many state titles?

I got bored and went down a rabbit hole on OHSAA. Lol. According to their records, Ironton has the record with 58 consecutive wins from 1977-1983 then Delphos with 57 consecutive wins from 1996-2000.

Only way to beat Marion is to win in the trenches, coldwater lost their only d1 guy to a motor accident and their qb is playing with a torn labrum. He still throws it but not like last year. They have been working on the run game and they have upset the stieners before but the defense is so good most ppl can’t even comprehend it

Nah, you’re good! I’m sure people are way more educated than me on the history, I was just going off what I found on OHSAA’s site. Which if it’s on the internet, it has to be true, right? Lol

Here is where I got the info. Although, it does say last updated back in 2016.

Very interesting. Of course the site does say “unofficial” so I’d be interested to see some other folks post here just for education purposes.

And you are right. Looks like Ironton won their state titles in 1979 and 1989, so it looks like OHSAA needs to devote some time to their website

Ironton did not win 58 consecutive games between 77-83. They lost two during that time.

11/7/80 vs John Glenn in the Regional Final.
11/27/82 vs St Vincent St Mary in State Final.

Can find a lot of information about past seasons and records about ohio schools

Much appreciated. Like I said, I got that info straight from OHSAA’s website. Seems as if they need to work on their stats.

Unless something crazy happens ML will break the record and by seasons end have another state championship added to their long list. It’s just crazy the amount of success they’ve had over the last 20 or so years this isn’t a long history of success program. They’ve been dominate like to other over last 20 years or so. Here’s an article from beginning of last season and keep in mind they won the title last year also.

Local Flyers have become one of the state's preeminent football programs, winning all of their record 13 state championships since 2000. Approximately 90 percent of the boys in grades 7-9 participate in football from the village of 1,206. The Flyers' varsity roster numbers 68, more than a quarter of the high school's total enrollment of 260.

All of this under coach Tim Goodwin who took over in 1999.

I’m just at a loss for words. That’s remarkable to say the least. 68 kids on a D7 roster is insane. Whatever they are doing works obviously.

They have only won 2 State Titles. Back then only two teams advanced to the playoffs in 3 division at the start of that streak. Wasn’t like it is today
