Wk 7: Fort Frye (4-2) @ Greenbrier West (3-1)
Fort has a haul this week. Hopefully they get 4 starters back this week. Not sure how long the 2 with concussions are out. Bradford had an ankle sprain. Dayne Miller should be back soon from his shoulder injury. Fun fact NFL and WVU star Owen Schmidt is on the Greenbrier West staff.
Re: Wk 7: Fort Frye (4-2) @ Greenbrier West (3-1)
Worst case scenario is happening for FF. They couldn’t afford injuries and they’re starting to pile up on key players. If they get some guys back, they can win this game but probably not by the margin it’d be otherwise. Going with FF based on the program and their history of killing WV teams. What would concern me is injuries are starting to happen at a bad time. FF can’t afford to go into league play injured and not at full strength this year.

I think they might get them all back except Wheeler. Wheeler is key LB and Pulling guard.beg003 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 10:46 am Worst case scenario is happening for FF. Even one extended injury to a key guy could be devastating for Fort Frye. They’ll need to be 100% healthy to beat the teams in the TSL this year, especially Warren and Marietta. I hope they’re good to go and healthy by the time we play. And I think they’ll beat GW not at full strength. Fort Frye’s record against WV teams speaks for itself.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 11:29 amI think they might get them all back except Wheeler. Fort also getting Dayne Miller back. He’s probably one of the strongest on the team. Guard started last season. He’s missed the first 6 games.beg003 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 11:37 amEven one extended injury to a key guy could be devastating for Fort Frye. GW does a ton of stuff similar to Caldwell. A ton of Qb runs.

Someone commented that the ride from Rock Hill to Belpre last week was brutal. Well, this trip, one way is 186 miles and 3.5 hours. THAT, is brutal.

I have family in Charmco, and the Greenbrier West and team was dealing with a death within its school and coaching community so that may explain a less than stellar performance against the Hillbillies. Still what was expected to be a championship year for the Cavaliers has been disappointing due to injuries. Fort should win but will know they have been in a physical ballgame.
For fans travelling to Greenbrier County, please note their are no accommodations or restaurants in Charmco. Best bet to eat and stay will be an hour away west in Beckley or 45 minutes east in Lewisburg.
Charmco is in the proverbial otherside of the middle of no where.

Really hoping that the Cadets can rebound with a victory over Greenbrier West. That long trip will not even be a factor as long as they can add a W to that overall record.

Good info. That makes Lower Salem sound absolutely cosmopolitan in comparison. Is this a home and home series?Zahns Corner wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 4:39 pmEasternDspy wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 11:29 amI think they might get them all back except Wheeler. No idea on home and home or even if this game was part of the original schedule. The Paden City situation and a few other small schools cancelling games midseason due to low numbers has kept many WV high school ADs scrambling to fill their schedules.efarns wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 2:54 pmGood info. The travel involved and different start dates makes scheduling teams in Southern WV problematic for small Ohio schools , but a series with opponents like Greenbrier West and James Monroe would present decent competition.

It is a home & home series, Greenbrier West will return the trip in 2025
The kickoff is at 6:30 per Fort Frye's request---it will also be 6:30 in 2025 in Beverly
Charmco isn't a booming metropolis by any stretch but there are a lot of places in WV further away from civilization than it is
Hope all coming from Ohio has a safe trip

Not sure. Just saw that on the Fort Frye Football Twitter. Assume because of the travel, trying to make it not as late for Fort fans to get home.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 12:42 pmWhy is it starting early ?Sportsfan01 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 04, 2024 12:25 pm Game is at 6:30
