No matter if it was a fumble or incomplete pass the players off the sideline had no effect on the play. As it was on the other side of the field.

Is no one going to mention the clear fumble in front of the ref on Portsmouth’s last drive that Fairland recovered and he ruled him down? Kept their drive alive and went in to score and take the 21-14 lead. Can’t talk about one huge missed call and not the other.

The only thing I wonder is if there was actually a whistle. If there wasn't that's kind of on Portsmouth because that dude was itching to hand out those sideline warnings all night.
I was standing behind that endzone and there was no whistle or indication of the play being ruled dead a couple Portsmouth players on defense reacted as if it was over once they deflected the ball down but there was no whistle blown to signal the play dead which is why the ref threw the flag cause at the time the play was still live had not been whistled over even though it should of been it was not. And yes he was pitching for those warnings all game

It was forward pass. But no matter how they ruled it the players being on the opposite sideline from the player had no effect on the play. No flag needed. game over.

It's a tough call, I'd have to see it on PC, can't get a frame by frame on my phone but it was about a 50/50 as to whether his knee was down when the ball popped loose.

If we talk about that one then we have to talk about the bad PI call against Portsmouth where he caught the ball deep in Fairland territory. But those are both 50/50 calls that didnt decide the game. You can argue about the fumble one, and I respect your opinion but that call isn’t of the same magnitude as the blown one that literally decided the game

Oh my lord. If I was a Portsmouth fan I would be livid. What a terrible way to end a great ball game.

I really can't make out the fumble it's at 2:41:20-2:41:21 it's hard to see if his knee was down or not.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t sitting in my living room pissed off right now. With that said I’d like to talk about a few things.
1. The refs were ass all night against both teams
2. Portsmouth played the pass better than I thought they would, even with giving up long plays and TD’s.
3. The refs sucked
4. Portsmouth definitely had success running the ball, but Fairland played it better than I thought they would.
5. The refs sucked
6. I knew when Portsmouth scored with 27 seconds left that left a good passing team too much time.
7. The refs sucked
8. Do teams not get a slight home field advantage anymore from the refs?
9. The refs sucked
10. Fairland wideouts are nice
11. The refs sucked
12. Chase Heiland literally put the Portsmouth offense on his back, what a warrior he was out there running it hard all night.
13. The refs sucked
14. It was a great game between 2 really good football teams. I’m in my feelings just like every other Portsmouth fan right now, we feel like the team lost the game and shouldn’t have, refs being why. That said both of these teams played hard and we were treated to quite the ballgame. Respect to both
15. You guessed it, THOSE FUCKING REFS SUCKED!

If I am Portsmouth I am pretty upset at the ending Fairland attempts an inside shovel pass Wall threw the ball underhand to Cremeans the ball hits and falls to the ground- incomplete pass the game is over. Refs don’t call it incomplete ball is picked up and ends up back in Walls hands he is running around ball ends up on the ground again at this point Portsmouth is on the field celebrating.

If I am Fairland I am pretty upset about the missed fumble. That ended up leading to the Portsmouth late TD.

Great game absolutely a shame that the refs are the topic of discussion. Heiland running for 200 plus when everyone in the stadium knew he was getting the ball- Williams running for a game leading TD-Portsmouth double reverse 2 point pass -Kitts going over 100 all purpose-Wall to Smith in triple coverage -Hayden making a catch on his back hip falling down in front of the defender to win it those are the moments we should be talking about not the refs

Also remember that the last 3-5 minutes of the game was an "untimed down' .... absolutely pitiful.

Totally agree, kids on both teams making plays, leaving it all on the field. Should be talking about those things, instead the refs are the topic. I know some of that is my fault, but it was bad all night against both teams. As I stated I’m not one to complain about bad refs but I think had that been a 42-7 game with those calls I think I would still be complaining. Absolutely terrible

To file a complaint about officiating with the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), you can contact the OHSAA Officiating Department at [email protected].
The OHSAA has a Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for officials, which establishes guidelines for ethical standards and professional conduct. Officials are expected to be independent, impartial, and responsible to the people they serve.

Terrible that the Refs felt the need to insert themselves into deciding the winner of this game. I also agree with BuckeyeBlood on No's 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15.

The ref were so bad. 2 of them I think this was their first game. They looked scared out there. OHSAA has to do a better job getting these refs or games they can handle. Don’t buy them in on big games like this. The Refs were so bad on both side all night. Not only bad calls but a lot of no calls. They need to do better. That being said both side had to play the game within what the refs called. This is what I do know! Chase Higland is a Beast. The way he came out in the second half and put his team on his back and carried them down the field was something to watch. He has a heart of a lion. The other thing I know is Fairland Won that Game. Way to keep playing boys!

In the regular season the schools hire officials though an assignor that is approved by the school.
