Someone doesn’t like to hear the truth that they aren’t as good as they want to give the perception they are. The team tonight showed you aren’t one of the best small schools in Ohio.
yes I agree after all Ironton put a running clock on Burg because they are such a power house
Try to stay on topic here… you aren’t as good as you think you are. Time will prove this. You can try to change the subject but we are here on an Ironton thread. Move on because you have three OVC schools to play to round out the regular season. Prep was open this week and you could have scheduled them. We all know what happened the last time you played Prep though.
I never seen a group of Burg fans that are so jealous. I hope you win out and play Ironton again.

I’m not jealous. Ironton is a very good team. Burg getting better. Burg may be able to hang with Ironton next time around.

Jealous of Ironton? LMAO!! That’s never happening.

If Wheelersburg tried to copy Ironton in any way, shape, or form, I would be very upset. That is absolutely NOT what Burg should strive to be.

As mentioned earlier he had surgery on his hand, he broke it a couple of weeks ago against the NY team. Kept playing with it and injured it worse, had surgery on Tuesday and then is getting a protective club to finish the season. I believe that’s what was said on Facebook.

I would question why Burg is even being brought up but even the Pikeville announcers mentioned Burg last night so I guess it’s inevitable at this point.

Wow. I would think you would be upset if your team didn't copy everything Ironton is doing. Like being the best they can be . And using ALL tools available to accomplish that. How the mighty have fallen. 7 years removed from a state championship and burg fan is good with mediocre. Superior culture and coaching my _ss.

Pikeville is the three time defending small school state champion in Kentucky. The old idea of a gap between Kentucky and Ohio football is gone. Pikeville has actually handled Raceland the last few years and Raceland has a solid program for a tiny school. The larger Louisville and Lexington schools are a good match anymore for any Ohio large school not to mention Boyle County which likely would win Division 1 in Ohio. Massillon and Boyle County would be a good game but I’d bet on Boyle to beat any other team in Ohio. Marion Local is an anomaly. They’re going to put a running clock on everyone they play so yes, Ironton and Pikeville or for that matter Wheelersburg would fit just fine in the MAC with the understanding that them, Coldwater and Versailles are playing for second place. To say these aren’t all at least good if not great small school programs for the regions they represent is petty and disingenuous.

St Ed would later lose to Glenville. Boyle County no doubt is very good this year, but whether they’d win D1…

Battle tested by a team who has won one game out of six. The self proclaimed best small school had trouble with a small Kentucky school.
But they play up and heard their announcer say next game getting back to class A schools
All the schools are A schools in Kentucky. Pikeville has 2 games left with 6A schools being the smallest like they are in Kentucky. Both of these schools would be considered Division 7 in Ohio and a game against a 4A school which would be a D3 school in Ohio. Don’t try to talk up their remaining schedule because it isn’t there. I feel we have to fact check some of you like they do with a presidential debate.

KYHSAA classifies by A, correct. THERE ARE 6 Districts.

District 1A is smallest through 6A LARGEST).

Examples:

1A (Pikeville, RaceLand)
2A (Beechwood, LCA)
3A (Ashland, Belfry)
4A (Corbin, JCHS)
5A (Bowling Green, Highlands)
6a (Louis Trinity, GRCHS)

They reassess by enrollment every 2-years .

Pikeville has played a mix of 3A-6A, until Ironton Game.

@BurgFan43
You had the A’s correct, BUT YOU DID NOT GET STRAIGHT A’s!

The last few years the likely second best D1 team in Ohio is Springfield or Moeller. Moeller lost to three Indiana teams last year. I’d argue that D2 in Ohio has been stronger than D1 recently with Hoban and Massillon. By comparison Ohio schools, in spite of transfers to the power schools are small in comparison with other states in the region. Indiana has several high schools with enrollments surpassing 3000 students with a few approaching or surpassing 5000 students. Obviously consolidation plays a roll here but Ohio hasn’t exactly embraced the concept with several growth areas such as Westerville apparently looking to build another mid size school.

It reminds me of churches in the south. There’s seemingly a church every mile or so likely because the members couldn’t get along so they go down the road a little and build a new church.

Copy Ironton’s recruiting? Nope. Having Ironton’s OC on the Burg staff? Nope.

These are things Burg will not do, and I support that.

As for academics and other sports, well we know that’s not even a competition. Burg in a different league…

All three would be middle of the pack at best. This year’s Ironton would have a shot at 3rd place or maybe even second, but most years, it would be 3+ losses.

Nah… you and the talking heads just think you are elite and that is not the case. You beat a 2-5 Pikeville team that plays in the smallest class in Kentucky. This little school did play well and I heard excuses about how the officials were so terrible. SMH

They are the IMG of Canada, they have 20 year old kids, they have a coach who coached an indoor football team. Why can’t you just say we lost and we will get better from it. It isn’t like you are playing teams with great records because your team’s combined record so far is 15-15. You aren’t blowing teams out like Liberty Center is right now. They have outscored their opponents 228-14! Check them out on You Tube! They will win DV this year!

Ironton has the #1 strength of schedule in D5. Wheelersburg and Midland has drug that down. They have blown everyone out but Clarkson North who no one in D5 would even schedule let alone beat. Jealousy and hatred is an awful thing in the land of Milk and Honey. Liberty center has played no one good. Liberty Center hasn’t even played a Hartley. Who just about beat the #1 D3 team this past week in Bishop Watterson
#1 strength of schedule? Ironton is currently #11 in D5 computer points so not sure that SOS is legit. Also not sure why you called out Liberty Center, but they have more computer points than IHS.

As for “no one in D5 would schedule Clarkson North”, you do realize Harvest Prep scheduled Pick Central? Also scheduled Sandusky Perkins and Cincinnati LaSalle? That’s quite the schedule!

With regards to Hartley, yes they came within 15 points of Watterson, but also lost by 31 points to Ursuline. They even gave up 28 points to 1-5 Elyria Catholic. Will probably finish below .500.

So yes, Ironton has a very good team and a great shot at state, but they aren’t the only team playing tough schedules. Definitely do not appear to have the toughest schedule even in D5.
Circling back here. Ironton now 1st in the state in computer points. This despite being 9-1 against several 10-0 teams. Would you now say they played the toughest schedule? For the record, I wouldn’t.
