Another SOC matchup for the Burg. Burg at home and rolling along should continue getting better.

Doesn’t matter, winning the SOC and beating the minford, oakhills, NW’s is something you better do at the burg. Burg fans don’t care about these games. Burg fans want wins over the irontons, Jackson’s, prep types and burg has proven they can’t do that without tanner Holden

Pirates on upset alert!

I wish. Hope my Falcons can continue to improve. I would imagine if anyone has a bump or bruise for Wheelersburg they’re setting this one out and getting ready for week 10 and beyond.

First, the SOC championship matters; always has, always will.

Second, Burg has beaten Jackson 15 times and Ironton 14 times. Fairly certain Holden didn’t play in all those wins despite your comment.

This statement just blows my mind, I get if you’re trying to gas light. Burg loses the SOC title and beats Prep of beats a Ironton and doesn’t win SOC ppl will be upset. Banners get hung for championships a pat on the back is what you get for a Ironton or prep win, unless it’s in the playoffs.

There is a segment of loser Ironton fans who act like Wheelersburg is this terrible program because Ironton has beaten them recently. Which is stupid, it makes your team look worse! They still prove year in year out they are a top 2 or 3 program in the SE part of the state, and I’d imagine the 2-5 seeds are all praying it’s Coal Grove or Zane Trace opposite them in R1, not Wheelersburg.

Of course, there are also some loser Wheelersburg fans who act like a state runner up season is a failure. So every fan base has their dummies.

Being state runner up or even just a regional champ can definitely be a major disappointment.

Example: no one in Burg is happy with the results of the 2018 season. With the talent that returned, a blowout lost in the state semifinals was a failure.

Now as for Ironton, the 2019 season was very successful despite the loss in the state championship. Very respectable performance. But the 2020 and 2022 seasons were major disappointments not because they lost in the title game, but because they got blown out. Those teams had too much talent to lose that badly.

Look at the burg attendance at home and on the rode since starting 0-2 with 2 running clocks put on them. That proves my point. Another win over minford and another soc champ in what is a terrible soc doesn’t mean anything . Season was over before it really got stsrted

Let’s take a poll
Coming into the yr would burg fans take 6-4 with losses to the teams they always lose to and a soc championship or 9-1 with obviously wins over ironton, Jackson and prep with a loss in week10 to west and no championship

No one is saying burgs a terrible program. Just mediocre by the standards set over the last 50 yrs. They’ve just proven post holden that they can’t beat good football teams. 1-15 post holden against ironton, Jackson and prep. This seems to have just become acceptable among burg fans, just seems to have become the norm. Beat up on the NW’s, oakhills, minfords, valleys and lose to all the good teams on the schedule. Beat the heaths, Portsmouth’s, Afrocentrics of the world in the playoffs then go into the prep game and not show up and play like they already know it’s a loss. Welcome to burg football 2024

Now let’s apply that logic to Ironton…

Would they trade their recent wins against Burg for a state title in 2017, or are they happy with the Burg wins and no state title since 1989?

Well it’s proven to be the only realistic attainable goal they now have yr after yr
