That would be great if they could actually do it, would help all 4 teams out.

How would getting killed by Ironton be good for Athens?
Re: make the switch please, 8-0 Athens v 7-1 Ironton, 0-8 Gallia v 0-8 River Valley
Athens would get running clocked in the first half
Re: make the switch please, 8-0 Athens v 7-1 Ironton, 0-8 Gallia v 0-8 River Valley
You couldn't pay Athens enough to take this game. Ironton with the running clock.

I don't see why not. They already have a home playoff spot basically locked up. River Valley isn't going to give any sort of playoff points. At least they'd have a puncher's chance against Ironton and if they somehow win, they'd have the #1 seed and the most battle tested roster in the region other than Watterson.
Even if Athens loses, they'd still finish 9-1 and host in week 11 and probably week 12 too, provided they win.

Read that it’s homecoming for Ironton so it would have to be at Ironton.

Because Athens vs. RV is a league game. You can’t just change league contests. The standings matter.MisterGalliaGuy2016 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 1:11 pmI don't see why not. Athens JV would put a running clock on RV, let's not act like Athens would lose to River Valley without their entire roster just quitting and choosing to forfeitBlizzardMan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 1:13 pmBecause Athens vs. RV is a league game. My brother in Christ, I promise you, River Valley loses to Athens in Gallia County, Athens County, Franklin County, up in Michigan, on the moon, in China, or in Africa.BlizzardMan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 1:13 pmBecause Athens vs. RV is a league game. Athens is undefeated in the league and River Valley is probably going winless. I would bet $500 right now, that those two things remain true until the end of the regular season, provided this hypothetical switch doesn't happen.
Nothing in Athens vs RV would have any impact at all on the TVC-O and Ironton isn't in a league. Last place in the OVC is decided next week between South Point and Gallia anyway.

ironton could offer athens 5-10K to come to ironton. they would make that up easy with a 8-0 team coming in. i doubt river valley would bring 100 dollars worth of fans.

Wellston has 1 league loss. A fluke won by RV could make them co-champs. It doesn’t matter what the odds are, the game has to be played to complete the standings. They also are contracted to play each league school. You can’t just not play league games. It’s that simple.MisterGalliaGuy2016 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 1:18 pmMy brother in Christ, I promise you, River Valley loses to Athens in Gallia County, Athens County, Franklin County, up in Michigan, on the moon, in China, or in Africa.BlizzardMan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 1:13 pmBecause Athens vs. RV is a league game. Which means that NY vs Athens will decide the league anyway. So what's the issue?BlizzardMan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 1:57 pmYes. My bad.
