That Ironton team last night will not make it to the state game I'm not saying there no good but I seen another team play that they have to play to get there and they will not make it there by only scoring 6 in first half

Was it the 6 points in first half with 3 Turnovers and very sloppy play or was it the 29 points in the 3rd qtr. 🤣🤣🤣

I agree Ironton needs to get over the Canada game hang over.
Pikeville is better than their record shows and won't be surprised if they make the championship game in KY,
I will give Fairland credit they came out fighting and gave Ironton all they wanted but Ironton needs to clean up the penalties and turnovers,
Next game is the game to do that get back to fundamentals before a big rival Portsmouth

" they will not make it there by only scoring in the first half".

They play 4 quarters for a reason. If you have been watching this Ironton team, they steamroll the competition in the 2nd half. The body blows in the first half sets the stage for the 2nd.

It will be several games into the playoffs before this will be an issue. But this is a legitimate issue for Ironton.

There are plenty of schools (not in Lawrence County) that can take advantage of a first half like Ironton has been playing and like they played this Friday. Fairland was missing their starting QB and made offensive play calls in the first half like they knew they couldn't win. I know limited without the starting QB but Fairlands offense seemed more concerned with running clock than trying to win. This is going to bite Ironton in the playoffs if they don't figure things out.

Shouldn't be an issue next week though. I have never been one to encourage a forfeit but it has to be on the mind for Gallia. Having a JV'sh caliber team face Ironton :/

I would have loved to been a fly on the wall to hear that halftime speech. Must’ve been something for them to bust it open in the third quarter like that. Hope Ironton doesn’t decide to sleepwalk through many more games. Falling behind in The first half due to sleepwalking might be fatal in the playoffs.

Thank you I didn't think it was that hard to figure out in the first half Fairlands defense line walked thru there ok and that's facts and I seen Columbus Academy play and they would have walked on Ironton in that game I'm not saying Ironton isn't good but when the coaches are on the sidelines yelling at each other saying you shouldn't be a coach and your f#"@ garbage then there is a problem

I think Ironton made some great adjustments at half time and their kids responded well. Nothing to hang their heads about for the Fairland players they competed for 3 quarters with Ironton.
Fairland had their chances in the first half a turnover on downs an interception and a fumble recovery so basically 3 turnovers could have really changed the complexion of the game if Fairland could have capitalized offensively off the turnovers. The Fairland defensive effort in the first half was phenomenal great team defense saw 11 helmets getting to the ball and I thought they matched Ironton physically in the first half. The Fairland players brought their energy and effort. However to pull an upset you can’t leave points on the field when you force 2 turnovers and have 3 trips deep into Ironton territory, Hayden made several gritty plays from the QB spot to extend drives. Everyone in the stadium knew he was getting the ball a lot and he didn’t back down. The Fairland oline and wideouts and backs were blocking hard even though they didn’t get the ball in the endzone you have to compliment the kids efforts to overcome the adversity and try to make plays.
The energy flipped when Ironton came out for the second half they had so much confidence and swagger as a team the culture they have spent years building paid off. That third quarter was absolute domination. Ironton was swarming to the football and playing great team defense they took over physically. Offensively they pounded the rock with Williams and Terry got Roach involved in the play action passing game. They looked impressive.

For Fairland that’s a measuring stick to see how you compare to Ironton one of the states top d5 programs. For Ironton it was a game to make a statement putting a running clock on a team ranked ahead of you in the playoffs going into the game is a pretty nice statement to make to the rest of d5 region 19.

Columbus Academy has played 1 team with a winning record. Other than that first game, their opponents are 14-32.

CA is not beating IHS. Region 19 still comes down to HP versus IHS with IHS still the favorite.

Rest of D5 could be interesting:
- Versailles just took their 3rd straight conference loss by getting thumped by Minster. Coldwater will curb-stomp Versailles next Friday. However, Versailles still could win their region.
- Milan Edison beat Sandusky Perkins. They could give Liberty Center a run.
- Region 17 has a number of talented teams and will be a serious contender as usual.

The eventual state champion will come from 17 or 18 most likely.

In D5.

Those two have proved they can compete with the big boys though. Look at the scores.
