WK9: Grandview Heights @ Valley
Re: WK9: Grandview Heights @ Valley
This is a big one. Win this and they are looking at a great chance at a home playoff game. Lose and they are most likely out. Would love to see the Indians pull out a win. I think they can do it. The only hesitation is that they have shown over and over again this season that they have a really tough time closing out a close game. Hopefully they come in with the same mentality that they started with at West and Oak Hill. They didn't mess around and took care of business early. The only issue with West is that they took their foot off the gas (or better yet, ran out of gas).

I don't think they ran out of gas personally. I felt like there was still fire power left but they just played the 4th quarter complacent, or, trying really hard not to lose almost.Injuneer wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 9:38 am This is a big one. Said it before and I’ll say it again, I don’t think some of you watch the same game as me. Valley had two possessions in the second half. They ran the same stuff that built the lead. The only thing that stopped them was a 3rd down penalty and a 3rd down drop on those possessions. The running out of gas looked true on the tackling because that’s what lost the game. They missed a ton of tackles and let Bishop go in the backfield on 4th down.
As for this game valley will have their hands full. Last year was a great game and I think this could be too, but the Grandview RB is really good.

Valley's issues all year have been penalties and missed tackles that lead to huge plays. They should have beat Portsmouth, Coal Grove, Piketon(maybe), Waverly and West. I have no idea what GH has but last year was a good game and I think Valley is much improved even if the record doesnt show.

Seems they have a really good RB in Henry Ohlinger who has 4 D-I offerslineman7 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 10:56 am Valley's issues all year have been penalties and missed tackles that lead to huge plays. Valley hasn’t been able to stop the run all year and they have the best player we will play this year we will have to score almost every possession because they might

The players know what this game means, as far as playoff implications. They just need to go hard for 4 quarters and close it out. Most likely, the Indians playoff begins this week.

Coach Crabtree said on the radio show a few weeks back that he had MCL surgery and is out for the year. He got hurt against Piketon and didn’t play much but I believe the knee injury happened against Waverly in week 4. His mom had put pictures of it on Facebook.

Valley has a huge opportunity here to prove they’re better than their record. They’ve had some tough losses against real good teams this year, and have competed in most of their games (other than Burg and Piketon). Waughtel is getting more comfortable at QB each week and is turning into a dual threat QB.
If Valley can keep Ohlinger from running wild, they’ll have a chance to win this one. Good luck to the Indians Friday night*

The running back (Henry Ohlinger) is the son of an old college friend of mine, whom with I just recently reconnected. I don't know the young man, but if he's anything like Dad, he's nothing but a class act.Dan-The-Man wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2024 1:18 pm Said it before and I’ll say it again, I don’t think some of you watch the same game as me. This is an interesting game- Have followed GH for several years. GH has not played the toughest of schedules- last year was a good game and GH returns much of the same as last year and are better than last year. Many of the better players on GH teams are Juniors so they are still a young team but do have a bit of experience by playing as Freshmen and Sophomores. Valley has played a far better schedule and competition than GH so Valley record is a little deceiving. Hope for a great game and a GH victory but give the nod to Valley to win this- 27-17.

By the way Ohlinger is really good and has improved greatly each year- next year could be a monumental season for him barring injury. He is no Luke Lachey but his name does get mentioned as being a GH football great.
