I wouldn't be surprised if all are tied at zero. Absolutely no reason for IHS 1st string to see more than a series or two in this one.

If IHS keeps starters in for any length of time, it'll probably be 35-0 before the end of 1. Much better Gallia teams have been embarrassed at the Tank by comparably weaker and worse coached Ironton teams than this one.

Gallia completely overmatched, outmanned, and outclassed in this one. Hopefully nobody gets injured in this largely meaningless game. Safe travels to anyone making the drive.

I can see them playing the first half. Most time you see them play the first half regardless of the score. I'd say you'll see Ironton working though some new things this week offensively. Getting ready for the playoffs.

I'm not sure why any OVC school agreed to schedule Ironton, or why they agreed to leave them in the league for the other sports. Should've given them the boot all around.

If you don’t know why they kept them in other sports you probably shouldn’t share your thoughts in public because they are assuredly wrong.

LOL. Bite me. Football and boys basketball are the only revenue sports that generate ticket sales and Ironton basketball fans don't travel NEARLY as well as Ironton football fans. I'm sure it was written into the agreement for Ironton to leave the OVC for football only, but that just seemed like giving them the Notre Dame treatment, where they stay independent for football, yet keep a conference for the less popular winter and spring sports.

Is it really worth keeping them in the league for a few road basketball games and Gallia, Portsmouth, and Fairland getting spanked in football every year? Is it?

Didn't Gallia hire a very young coach a couple years aga. Is he still there?

Sure did. And that's a negative, Rafterman. Got pushed out the door by one unhappy family. He's up at a D-I school near Cleveland now. 3-5 playing an absolute bear of a schedule. Highland, Mentor, and Walsh Jesuit are all unbeaten so far, plus two other teams north of 6 wins so far on their slate. WJ is thus week.

Hind site is 20 20 when you cancel a team that might be 0-10. Yes, it might hurt playoff points. But if you schedule a “non”conference game, do you schedule a push over and be in same boat. Or, do you schedule someone tough and possibly get beat and have 2 losses now. But, whichever way it goes it will be nice to watch Ironton on their playoff run.

So who else would those schools play though? A week 4 game against some scrub that maybe get them a few playoff points? Or you could play the best team in the area and try to get better. Those 3 teams will be more prepared for the playoffs (obviously not Gallia this year). But for Portsmouth & Fairland they could meet Ironton again so that’s beneficial and if not you’ve played the best team in your region already. You won’t play anyone else that good. If you happen to somehow get out of the region you’re more prepared for those stronger teams. No need to be scared to get beat. Nobody likes it, but you can’t get to that Ironton level by playing scrubs.

It’s not like Ironton is dominant in those other sports, why would schools not play them? Ironton didn’t choose to leave in football. That was an OVC vote. Ironton sits in the middle of OVC schools in regards to travel, so it’s not an inconvenience. The only considerable travel is to Gallia. Driving from Coal Grove to Ironton for a school night volleyball game is much more convenient for fans than driving to Gallipolis

As far as the teams playing in football, Ironton/Portsmouth is the second longest running rivalry in Ohio high school football. It started long before the OVC existed and will be around long after. Fairland seems to be a successful program and wants to take the next step. You have to play outside the conference to find more competition. Gallia used to be a hard nosed and tough program. Not sure what has happened recently.

As I said, you might want to reconsider your public thoughts because they just come off as a whiner holding a grudge instead of someone who has the ability to think objectively.

Portsmouth and ironton is the 2nd oldest rivalry in the state of Ohio. That game should be played every year no matter who’s in a conference or not.

Not even 3 minutes in and Ironton up 21-0. This one really depends on when Pendleton decides to stop scoring.

35 - 0 1st qtr. Mercy ruled the OVC's #1 last week in their own house. Hey Trojans. Watch close. You're next.

42-0 at the end of the 1st. Is there an actual mercy rule or just the running clock?

That just doesn’t seem possible. Wow!
