Region 19 Outlook

Post by MVLfan »

Here’s a look at D5R19

1 Ironton
2 Fairland
3 Barnesville
4 Harvest Prep
5 Columbus Academy
6 West Muskingum
7 Portsmouth
8 Amanda Clearcreek
9 Africentric
10 Union Local
11 Nelsonville - York
12 Piketon
13 Wheelersburg
14 Dawson-Bryant
15 Worthington Christian
16 Wellston

1 Ironton
16 Wellston
9 Africentric
8 Amanda
4 Harvest Prep
13 Wheelersburg
12 Piketon
5 Columbus Academy

2 Fairland
15 Worthington Christian
10 Union Local
7 Portsmouth
3 Barnesville
14 Dawson Bryant
6 West M
11 Nelsonville York

If it plays out like this, the heavyweights are both in the top bracket. Fairland, Barnesville, West M will come out of the bottom bracket.

It comes down to if Harvest Prep beats La Salle. If that happens they could be the #1 seed.

Academy and prep may flip. If prep loses. Pasteur has them at 9-1 but they should win out.

Tough round 1 for Wheelersburg, 6-5 is very likely.

Zane Trace will get in even if they are 5-5.

Just as a football fan, it would be disappointing if Ironton and HP met before the regional finals.

I disagree. The way it is now I think you will see more competitive football. Not as many blowouts. Maybe more upsets. We all know ironton and hp are the 2. But I think having them on the same side will be a way better playoff.

A lot can change over the next 2 weeks, I think 12-17 will be very close. Nobody wants to make the nearly 4 hour hike to Barnesville!

Wow, I know nothing about Barnesville but it shows either 193 or 201 miles depending on the route from Portsmouth HS to Barnesville HS

Very cool place to travel but super long time to get there. Very cool little town.

Barnesville has a decent team but plays a weak schedule. Can't see them being a big threat to win the region. Bellaire and Shadyside aren't very good like they once were. Union local in week 10 may be a battle for them. But it is a cool little town.

Will Portsmouth stay in the top 8? South point will give zero points. But I think south point and Gallia play week 10 so maybe a single point. Then play ironton. I hope it’s a win but will be really hard. Columbus academy seems to be really good. Union local is tough. Wheelersburg can make a run. It will be interesting how the seeds play out

Hoping Portsmouth ends up with a top 8 seed. Really don’t want to make the drive to Union Local, West M or Columbus lol.

If Harvest Prep loses to D2 Cincy LaSalle this week, they finish with 1 win KIPP next week so I can see them possibly dropping to the 4 slot if Fairland and Barnesville win out…… will have to see how the 2nd level points work out

Several nice teams in R19 this year, the winner could very well be in the State Championship game.

Barnesville is kind of in the “unknown” part of the region. They’re 8-0 and blasted a very solid team in Fort Frye 51-16 and beat Monroe Central 44-14. If I’m not mistaken, they returned the majority of their team from last year and beat Columbus Academy last year in the playoffs.

I wouldn’t sleep on them. I’m not saying that they’ll win the region but it wouldn’t surprise me to see them in the second or third round of the playoffs. They could, if all of the chips fall right, be playing in the Regional Finals.

Solid program, waiting to see if they can take the next step. Guy seems to be building it the right way

If they bracket it so it's reg 19 vs 20 then quite possibly. If it's 19 vs 17 or 18 not likely.
