TVC Expansion - Gallia Academy
TVC Expansion - Gallia Academy
Rumors starting to swirl around a possible Gallia Academy/TVC partnership.
The TVC Ohio offered their 8th spot to Oak Hill this past offseason but they decided to remain in the SOC. If Gallia applies as the rumors suggest they will…
1. Does the TVC vote to add them.
2. Do they pull an Oak Hill and decline the offer from the TVC.
Gallia would fit well in just about every sport from a competition setting.
Pros: longest trips would be just over 1 hour to NY and Athens. Talent fits the TVC Ohio. New school with a great gymnasium, baseball/softball fields and track. The TVC Ohio would even the schedule and not have late non conference weeks to fill. Gallia has a Tudors Biscuit World and McClures.
Cons: memorial stadium would battle for the worst field in the TVC Ohio.

Re: TVC Expansion
Makes most sense. OVC has them on an island as it’s all Lawrence county schools and Portsmouth. Leads me to wonder what the OVC will do with Ironton gone and possibly Gallia leaving

May be time for few conference changes real soon, I wouldn’t be surprised to see several of the area teams changing conferences in the near future maybe a galia move could be the first domino to fallJeaux Burreaux wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 4:55 pm Makes most sense. Re: TVC Expansion
If Gallia leaves it would leave 6 OVC schools for football. Not really a problem except for pushing the Portsmouth vs Ironton to the beginning of the year.
Re: TVC Expansion - Gallia Academy
Honestly would be a good move for scheduling but I don’t know the areas well enough to know the logistics
Gallipolis would win most years and would dominate worst field

Serious question; why not add Logan? Gone are the days of Logan past and Logan plays a majority of the Ohio teams in various sports now and in the past. Location is ideal as well. Just curious why they would not come at least chat about it.

Re: TVC Expansion - Gallia Academy
Makes sense for Gallia to join TVC and it makes sense for the OVC to merge into the SOC.
Football wise it would be:
Top:
Wheelersburg
Waverly
Minford
South Point
West
Fairland
Portsmouth
Middle:
Northwest
Valley
Symmes Valley
Chesapeake
Rock Hill
Coal Grove
Bottom:
Oak Hill
South Gallia
Eastern
Notre Dame
Green
East
Some enrollment numbers make it a little skewed but competitively it's the best route. Add in a clause that can allow switches of teams divisions every 2 years (voted on by SOC AD's) that keeps each division competitive.
(Ironton being independent in football)
It makes so much sense that the people making the decisions have decided not to do it.

What has happened to Gallia Academy football ? They play Jackson next year.
Re: TVC Expansion - Gallia Academy
And Warren. But there are a couple of schools that are afraid of Warren and Logan. Hopefully with the departure of the main cog at one of those schools who was vehemently opposed to Warren getting in discussions can resume. Would be great to get all three in.

Most years point travels 3 hrs for road games, these are backyard trips.EasternDspy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 1:21 pmPoint is already traveling to Marietta , Warren and Beverly. Like changing conferences will help this football team. Great waste of time but until Gallia straightens up the team, coaches and all who think they are important. Because all this does is move a dumpster fire to a different conference will it will still burn and as the stink follows.

Exactly.
Also Fort had to go to Greenbrier that trip sucked.

Re: TVC Expansion - Gallia Academy
The plus to this move would mean that GA would have to wrestle against RV. I know this is mostly football but the RV vs GA rivalry would make a lot of people in Gallia County excited. I personally don’t see it happening at this point. I think GA would see it as a step down to be in the TVC.
Re: TVC Expansion - Gallia Academy
GA was in the SEOAL before it folded. The only teams in the TVC Ohio that were not in SEOAL are VC and Alexander. For the most part GA would be reuniting with their old rivals. Not logical to me to think that is a step down.

Re: TVC Expansion - Gallia Academy
GA should be in the TVC. OVC never felt like a good fit. Wouldn't be opposed to keeping Fairland on the schedule though.
