And Warren. But there are a couple of schools that are afraid of Warren and Logan. Hopefully with the departure of the main cog at one of those schools who was vehemently opposed to Warren getting in discussions can resume. Would be great to get all three in.
Never seen anyone like VC run from Warren like
they did, mostly in boys bball.

I know this is mostly football but the RV vs GA rivalry would make a lot of people in Gallia County excited. I personally don’t see it happening at this point. I think GA would see it as a step down to be in the TVC.
The TVC is a step down. Even without Ironton, the OVC is a better football conference. It is easily the area's best basketball conference. Gallia gains slightly shorter road trips on slightly better roads by joining the TVC. There are no other benefits.
GRFan wrote: Fri Oct 18, 2024 4:56 pm GA was in the SEOAL before it folded. The only teams in the TVC Ohio that were not in SEOAL are VC and Alexander. For the most part GA would be reuniting with their old rivals. Not logical to me to think that is a step down.
You forgot to mention most of those schools left the SEOAL close to 50 years ago because they couldn't compete. There is no one alive that cares about those old rivalries. Gallia already plays biggest TVC rivals Meigs and Athens. They play River Valley in pretty much every sport except football. I'd listen to a TVC proposal if it involved a 3rd division with Gallia, Athens, Point Pleasant, Logan, Warren etc. That is a TVC I could get behind. Otherwise, Gallia should stay put and get better.

Gallia should drop Ironton in football for the time being. Maybe the series could resume in a few years once the program gets back on track. Meigs, Athens, Point Pleasant, and Jackson plus the OVC schools needs to be the schedule going forward.

Well said. I agree here

I am still alive and still appreciate those rivalries, so there is at least one person that cares. GA playing Jackson is not going to turn out well for the Blue Devils. I wish them well in whatever they do. There is no real proposal on the table. This is all speculation.

Why do I feel like there is no real discussion of GA changing conferences it’s just someone wanting GA to win every conference title in every sport? I can tell you for sure no one in Gallia County is talking about GA joining the TVC.

Your AD has made calls to some TVC schools to gauge interest.

If Gallia joins the TVC, football should look like this
Jackson
Point Pleasant
*insert D-IV or D-V school like Fairland or Oak Hill or maybe a Waverly or Piketon*
League schedule should end with one of these three: Vinton County, River Valley, or Meigs.

Would like to see an NY/GA series. Even if Gallia doesn’t join the league.

There is no truth to this rumor but I think it would be good for both GA and the TVC

I see portsmouth in the soc as soon as two to three years from now. I think gallia to the tvc makes good sense for them. burg is easing their schedule now and I think portsmouth will be welcomed into the soc now. I see portsmouth taking irontons spot in week one on burgs schedule.
once they are added to the soc they will move to somewhere around week 6 on burgs schedule.
Gallia really needs a football focus. Football pays the bills and they can’t even compete right now.

I think the TVC would be wise to add Gallia and the TSL schools. Get sports to 3 divisions of 6 schools with 18 schools. I think if you can get Oak Hill over Point Pleasant, that would be better, but if not, Point Pleasant is fine to add unless Logan is interested. Hocking stays as is. Ohio can be split into 2 divisions whether by enrollment/competitive or geography (whatever is best for each sport).

'' The Academy"" has had its chances over the years, but has always looked down on the TVC and thumbed their noses at the conference. I hope the powers to be in the TVC does not let this happen

Most of the TVC Ohio is old SEOAL schools. Personally, I think Gallia would get enough votes to get an offer. Rv would most likely be against it. NY seems to be willing to play anyone, so I would expect them to overlook the longer drive. Athens and Gallia have an old seoal rivalry so I would think they vote yes as well. Wellston and Alex may be against it. VC (in my opinion) would love to have Gallia in the week 7 slot and not have to worry about finding a non conference opponent for that slot moving forward. I would assume Meigs would be for Gallia as well. The Hocking schools would also get a vote so I would be completely unsure about how they would vote. Basically, I’m saying there is a world where Gallia receives the votes.

Not overly familiar with Gallia, I have heard stories on certain ppl running the coach off from the last couple years. What happened to Gallia?? They went from back to back 9-3 seasons to being on the verge of 0-10.

I’ve heard that too, but I’ve got some thoughts as an outsider on it.

Kole Carter was a young grad from GA and had back to back outstanding seasons before heading north to take over a D1 program in Brunswick. Which, I’m going to just guess was a major pay raise over what he was making at his alma mater AND maybe he had an idea of what was coming this year for GA

Maybe he was ran out, but maybe he ran out to a better situation both financially and for the future.
