Trent Williamson should be the State Coach of the Year in D1

Westland has had one winning season in the past 22 years, going 7-4 in 2006 and had won 8 total games since 2016. Now, 8 wins in his second season.

Trent has definitely taught Westland how to play football.

At the same time, let’s face facts, Westland is also (to an extent) the beneficiary of an association to a particular 3rd-party individual whose involvement in high school football will likely be addressed by the OHSAA within a year or two from now. It’s going to come to a head soon.

Yes, Westland has benefited from transfers but I give the coach credit for putting it all together. He sat Kentrell Rinehart one game as a discipline issue. Hope he can keep the winning trend going next year. This is too big of school not to good teams. They have been poor in everything for several years but wrestling.

Westland received three transfers that OHSAA approved after paperwork, addresses and some who had home visits conducted. The majority other than those three "meaningful" transfers, the team is all returning players from last year's team. Plus the competitive level did change when the OCC realigned.

Yes, they caught a break by switching divisions with Central Crossing.

I was always very impressed with his time at Washington Court House, people here were curious to see what he would do with his own program. Transfers or not he took a historically bad program and has turned them into a very good football team. Also if players want to play for a coach why are we knocking it?? Congrats to Westland and Coach Williamson.
