Future of Greenfield Football
Where does Greenfield McClain go from here? Been a rough year over in Greenfield this year in regards to Football. However, there is a good group of younger kids coming up the ranks and ready to take the field in the coming years. FAC looks to be a little down after next year other than maybe Jackson and a Chillicothe team that has a good core of kids also coming up the ranks. Where is Greenfield at in several years, and what do you all see them having to do to compete in the FAC in the coming years?

1. Either keep Penwell (I think he’s a good coach) or find a coach who will be there for the long termOfftacklefor7 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 3:47 pm Where does Greenfield McClain go from here? Shuffling coaching staffs makes it unsustainable to have success at a smaller school. McClain has had a rough go of it as far as athletes go for quite some time now. Hopefully they can have a run of good athletes coming as you’ve said.
Last year was their first winning season since 2012 and they’ve only had 3 winning seasons since 2002, so something needs to change for them on the gridiron in the future, that’s for sure.

Greenfield has never been this football school so to ask what do they need to do or can they get things turned around is tough, especially if they stay in FAC. McClain is on the small side compared to other FAC teams and location is a bit tougher in terms of pulling players in. I just don't think McClain and the FAC is a match last year was one of their better years and they went 6-4 and only beat Hillsboro in FAC play. Team that won it Jackson beat them 62-14. I would just think it'd be in their best interest to apply elsewhereOfftacklefor7 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 3:47 pm Where does Greenfield McClain go from here? McClain will keep being McClain as long as they are in that league. I agree with FACSPORTS, SVC would be a logical fit, but I do not know how well that would work in other sports.

Honestly I don't know why the FAC and SVC don't just merge and make a large school small school division. And play cross over games to get to 7 league games per year in football
Re: Future of Greenfield Football
Really not seeing how a merge helps anything though, the FAC teams are all going to be lumped together and the SVC teams are all going to be lumped together outside of maybe Unioto moving.go court house wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 3:55 pm Honestly I don't know why the FAC and SVC don't just merge and make a large school small school division.
