Rivalry Week 10: Vinton County 3-6 (3-2) @ Wellston 5-4 (2-3)
Vinton County makes the trip south to Wellston to take on the Rockets in week 10. This rivalry dates back to 1967. Wellston leads the all time series with 31 wins and 26 losses. Since Wellston joined the TVC in 1982, VC holds a 25-17 advantage.
Both teams have losses to Athens and NY in conference play. VC was able to beat Meigs earlier this year while Wellston lost to the Marauders last Friday night in Rock Springs. Vc is looking to finish 3rd in the TVC Ohio with a win. Wellston will be looking to force a 3 way tie for 3rd if they beat the Vikings and the Marauders take down the Spartans.
Bragging rights on the line Friday night between these two rivals. The Battle of the Tracks Trophy has stayed in Vinton County since its inception a few seasons ago. Can the Rockets take the Trophy back across the tracks this year? We will find out Friday night.

When these two meet up, you might just need to throw the records out the window. They will butt heads and it is always a very physical game. I really don't have a feeling one way or the other. I'm going to just flip a coin and hope for the best. Well, Vikings it's up to you now. Do I keep that coin or get rid of it?

2 teams that have been a bit up and down this year, Wellston really backpedaling here to finish the season and currently sitting on the outside looking in they've gotta have this win and some help to have a chance. VC needs a bunch of help to get in and probably playing more of the spoiler in this one then anything. With the game being at Wellston gotta go with the home team by 7.

I thought Wellston made some nice adjustments in the second half against Meigs. They can't have a first half like they did last week. I look forward to a good game and hoping for an injury free game. No matter what happens, I am really proud of this senior class. They stuck it out during a lot of turmoil their sophomore year. They have represented WHS very well.

This one should be a classic. These teams have had some battles over the years and Friday night should be another good one.GRFan wrote: Thu Oct 24, 2024 8:27 pm I thought Wellston made some nice adjustments in the second half against Meigs. Congrats to the Vikings on your win over the Golden Rockets. I guess maybe I might rub that coin and probably keep it.VetteMan wrote: Mon Oct 21, 2024 9:16 pm When these two meet up, you might just need to throw the records out the window. I guess Wellston wasn’t as good as some people thought when they had a hot start. I will say they beat the teams they were suppose to beat but when it came to teams w/ a winning record they fell flat. They are much improved though from last season.
