I believe you would play the schedule Prep, Ironton, and Wheelersburg did to get ready for a playoff run. Some teams are content with 10-0 or 9-1 and and early playoff exit.Beergogglebluez wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 1:50 pmI agree. FAIRLAND’s beat teams with a 35-33 record Harvest Prep beat teams with a record of 26-27. Doesn’t matter who plays the hardest schedule. It’s who beats the most teams with winning records.Beergogglebluez wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 1:50 pmI agree. How is fairland a 2 seed when they have not played near the schedule of prep. Seems like SOS should matter more if the current process decides seeding for the playoffs.
Re: Region 19 Outlook
I get that sentiment...seems odd beating 0-9 Zanesville gives the same first level points as beating 9-0 Steubenville...but it gets made up for (so they say) in level 2 pointsOutoftowner wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 3:37 pm Seems like SOS should matter more if the current process decides seeding for the playoffs.

SOS comes into play if you win. The more wins your defeated opponents have, the more points beating them gives you. It’s not a perfect system but it takes time the “eyeball” test out of the equation in a sport where there are 700+ teams and no way for people to get eyes on all of them.

Re: Region 19 Outlook
Correct, Zanesville at 0-9 is worth 0.5 points average, Steubenville at 8-0 with their current wins would be worth more than 5.5 points on your average so there is a huge gap in the actual points. However if you lose either game you get 0522Pirate wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 4:01 pmI get that sentiment...seems odd beating 0-9 Zanesville gives the same first level points as beating 9-0 Steubenville...but it gets made up for (so they say) in level 2 pointsOutoftowner wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 3:37 pm Seems like SOS should matter more if the current process decides seeding for the playoffs.
Re: Region 19 Outlook
Yeah, I get it...I'm okay with the system as is. Probably could be tweaked a little but with varying rosters and all that each year, you couldn't really award more points for beating a more quality opponent because, especially early in the season, who knows who will end up being a "quality opponent"portsmouth_98 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 4:05 pmCorrect, Zanesville at 0-9 is worth 0.5 points average, Steubenville at 8-0 with their current wins would be worth more than 5.5 points on your average so there is a huge gap in the actual points. Re: Region 19 Outlook
If you don’t make the playoffs in the 16 team era, I don’t have much sympathy. Seeding isn’t great but you have to beat everyone anyways.
Re: Region 19 Outlook
Well the only team that they beat that has any chance to win is Vinton County. Minford,Huntington,Waverly,or McClain are not going to win so where are the points going to come from?Team ovc wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 10:12 pmIt isn’t possible for Northwest to get in beating a 1-8 oak hill teamWrestlingFootball wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 9:58 pm 1 Ironton

LoL. Well that’s not true. The beat Minford and Valley and they play each other. So one of them have to win. And I think Huntington has a chance vs Adena.Team ovc wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 8:43 pmWell the only team that they beat that has any chance to win is Vinton County. You do know that "13y/o" can throw a ball almost 70 yards?selonmc wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 9:08 pmI watched them last week and while they easily handled my Monroe Central I wasn’t impressed. They have a good line. They aren’t tall or fat.. but they are brutes. They can easily mow down all the small schools on their schedule up here. But if you average 13 yds/carry of course your play action pass will result in wideouts being open by 15 yds. But they are so one dimensional. Stop the run and the QB won’t beat you. He has the arm strength of a 13 y/o. Just stating what I saw. They can easily be beat by the top teams in R19Jason Vorhees wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 7:27 am Barnesville is kind of in the “unknown” part of the region. They’re 8-0 and blasted a very solid team in Fort Frye 51-16 and beat Monroe Central 44-14. If I’m not mistaken, they returned the majority of their team from last year and beat Columbus Academy last year in the playoffs.
I wouldn’t sleep on them. I’m not saying that they’ll win the region but it wouldn’t surprise me to see them in the second or third round of the playoffs. They could, if all of the chips fall right, be playing in the Regional Finals.

Your research skills must not be very good lol. Northwest got beat 38-35 to valley and valley will beat minford so try to do a better job before respondingWrestlingFootball wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 11:18 pmLoL. Well that’s not true. Looking at the 16 spot, if 5-4 Wellston beats 3-6 Vinton County they would finish ahead of Northwest as would Worthington Christian by defeating 1-7 Bexley barring any major upsets of course. A Burg loss to West would leave them ahead of Northwest as well so not looking good for the Mohawks unless one of their defeated opponents pulls off an unexpected victory

Africentric has played some tough teams, it will be interesting to see where they end up and how they will stack up against teams their own size after playing mostly larger schools all year.

Yeah, I was really hoping we would end up in 6th or 7th but it looks like we are landing in the 8/9 for the 3rd of the last 4 years.
