Burg vs Barnesville

Post by wobycat »

Unofficial match up but highly likely now.

Burg will be the underdog in this one. Super long trip makes it tough too.

Barnesville is well coached and brought a lot of pieces back from their team last year. Big line. Offense wants to run between the tackles but definitely will pass. They will also have a few tricks up their sleeves too. Defense is always solid

I think the blueprint for burg to upset the shamrocks is to weather their early punches. They will be highly motivated this year. If burg can be within striking distance in third or even better if they were to snag the lead somehow, I think burgs depth and schedule pay off and they can possibly steal another one.

Burg seems to be playing better of late. Hope they can carry it over next week.

I think the Burg can win this. I know Barnesville program has taken strides but outside of Union Local no one has given them a tough test or has played tough comp. Also that part of the state is similar to ours in which there aren’t a ton of very very good programs.

D5 game of the week. I said a few weeks ago if you switch schedules, Barnesville would be 6-4 and Wheelersburg would probably be 10-0. Tough draw for Barnesville to be 10-0 and have to play a top 5 team in the region.

Barnesville will be the deserved favorite but I wouldn’t be surprised either way.

Burg should win this one. Road trip or not they've been there before and won. Burg will pull out all the stops. I look for them to win by one or 2 touchdowns just because this time of year they are a different team. Say what you will about them but they find their way. Good luck to both teams and let's hope for no injuries. Go PIRATES!

Most interesting first round game, imo.

Wheelersburg riding a four game win streak, but those four opponents are 14-26 and half those wins are from West. West and NW are their only wins against teams above .500. Is Wheelersburg better than the first half of the year or did they feast on a weak SOCII?

What jumps out to me is Wheelersburg didn’t dominate a good team anywhere in their six wins. As opposed to Barnesville which has three dominant wins over 7+ win teams.

All that being said. Barnesville is the most likely team to lose week 1 at home maybe in the region, maybe in any region.

They smoked Union Local

This is Barnesville best team in school history. If they can’t win this year not sure when they will go far.

I don’t follow Burg after IRON game, only chiming in to wish them well & do an occasional read on a topic for post season.

IDK , if BURG has stayed Healthy. I do know they seem to peak at right time.

I think BURG is healthy , they pull this victory off & the S.O.S. Has put them in a position to do so.

I think they will be in Regional final, to face the team that survives on the other-side of the bracket as it appears to be arranged at this “unofficial” moment.

One thing that shocked me about Barnesville was how big that line is. That unit is a gamechanger

Self-proclaimed burg-hater here... But, they'll beat Barnesville. Barnesville might be the 5th best team burg has played this year.

A lot of good points on the board. Another thing that I think needs to happen is burg can’t get behind like the last two meetings. Very important

Not putting too much emphasis on Fantastic 50 rankings but Barnesville didn’t play a team in F50’s top 250…they do look good (Barnesville) though. Can’t wait to find out!

Tolliver looks like Barkley. He’s just extremely strong.
