Shows I know absolutely nothing about the MAC. Lol. I was wayyyyy off. Congrats flyers on another crazy season. I’m sure they’ll be hoisting the state championship trophy again.greygoose wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 9:42 pmML has given up 22 points TOTAL all season long, I'd be shocked if Coldwater touches the twenties let alone 28. That ML defense is just insane to think they're running through the MAC and giving that many points up is just crazy as they've only given up 16 in league play.Glousterite wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 11:56 pm This is just from an ole TVC Hocking fan, that got completely annihilated by Maria Stein in the state championship, but I’ll take Stein in this one.

Statistics Are Like Bikinis...They Show A Lot, But Not Everything.
Re: Week 10, Marion Local at Coldwater
Most of us on here don't know a lot about the MAC other than it's an absolute gauntlet to get through. I will say it's starting to be Marion Local and everyone else though the rest are really good teams but Marion Local seems to be separating themselves. Tough as a DVII school and you already know in week 10 that ML is winning it all the success they've had over last 22 years or so is just incredible.Glousterite wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 10:17 pmShows I know absolutely nothing about the MAC. ML 35
Coldwater 0 (running clock in the 4th)
For casual fans I don't know if we can appreciate this enough.... Coldwater is the odds on favorite to win the state title in D6, them or Kirtland are destined for a big matchup. Marion Local absolutely throatled them, Coldwater didn't really threaten to score.... This was probably Marion Locals toughest game until these 2 meet again next year haha!

I will say this about the Mac they have coaches that have been there for a long time and have built on what they have.
One team got great the rest didn’t shun them they learned and stepped up.
This didn’t happen overnight to be sure but they all built up their programs.
The parents didn’t run coaches of the Administration didn’t interfere with the programs.
Kirkland is the same the coach was allowed to build a program and made it a winner he never done it overnight but was allowed to teach their players how to win and continue to win.
Here in Southeast Ohio coaches are constantly fighting to keep their job win or lose.
I admire those programs that had the patience and trust in those coaches to allow them to be great.
I’m favoring or calling any program but the MAC teams and Kirkland also South Range did not become great overnight it took time trust and believing in the men they entrusted to lead their programs.
I know every program wants to have the perfect coach but it takes time to make a great program and patience in a coach to build that program.

The difference in communities is one of the biggest factors of MAC success to anywhere, but SEO specifically. The MAC sits in a very affluent, 2 parent, traditional part of the state. Some schools here in SEO have i'd guess 5% of their players come from 2 parent homes.... and unfortunately of those kids a lot come from 0 parent homes... The MAC is a perfect storm of things going right culturally and financially that you just don't see in a lot of the state or anywhere for that matter. Then you add on the right coach (who's also the admin) and assistants and you get what you get in the MAC (plus a ton of other factors of course).

Another big factor is kids there don’t play football until middle school. They don’t get burnt out and don’t have bad experiences with little league coaches.Play60Football wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 7:25 am The difference in communities is one of the biggest factors of MAC success to anywhere, but SEO specifically. Agree. Ed Miller turned Burg’s program overnight, but there are few Ed Miller coaches to be found.fielddaddy wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 7:02 pm I will say this about the Mac they have coaches that have been there for a long time and have built on what they have.

That said, coaching is the key. They can get the kids interested in playing and can get the kids to perform at a high level as a team. Kirtland, for example, was a nothing program before landing the right coach.

That sounds about right. Before his arrival, Kirtland hadn’t won a playoff game.Rolltanks wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 12:23 pmHasn’t tiger been there for 20 plus seasons?RBH23 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 11:37 amAgree. Great post...100% agree.. the MAC is a machine...and has been for a long time (150+ state titles in all sports since the 70s...39 in football) the coaching and the culture is definitely the key... and the parents and the community are a huge part of that... a lot of parents and in-fighting derail a lot of teams and coaches... let the teachers teach...let the coaches coach..

Yeah, in SEO when mommy’s butt gets hurt she goes to the school board and they cower down to her. Or if daddy is friends with a board member then Johnny, who trips over his own feet, gets to play QB. Not to mention that if anyone influential doesn’t like a coach they don’t have a chance. There have been people run for and get elected to school boards with an agenda to get rid of a coach. I’m guessing that doesn’t happen in the MAC.

Of course not since life in MAC country is always sunshine and rainbows.Donnie Hagglethorpe wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 6:03 pm Yeah, in SEO when mommy’s butt gets hurt she goes to the school board and they cower down to her.
