Week 11 Jackson vs New Philadelphia

Post by Ironman92 »

Jackson was all ready to go to Dover in week 11 but New Philadelphia beat Dover handily and bumped Jackson into the #8 seed.

Gives our kids another home game they didn’t think they would have and saved our district a bunch of travel expenses. Was going to cost the band alone $3500.

New Philly though looks like quite the challenge by glancing at scores. 3 losses but one was a close loss to 10-0 D3 Steubenville, another to 10-0 D2 Ashland. The 3rd loss is perplexing as they lost to 1-9 D3 Mansfield Sr???? What was that all about I wonder? Ashland’s schedule doesn’t look great but D2 10-0 must be respected.

Guessing a very physical game that Jackson will be ready for. Will need to make some plays.

Why $3500 ?

Also they prob had a night like Varsity Blues and couldn’t recover vs Mansfield. 😂

5 buses plus fuel plus paying drivers….probably around 13 hours for 5 different drivers. Band also providing meals for 150 kids. I’m not sure. Came from a band mom who is one of the smartest people I know. So I trust her.

New Philadelphia should win by a score but that's a long drive

Drew Pasteur has Jackson favored by 1 point.

I think it should be a very close game. The winner gets the prize of playing Columbus Bishop Watterson who is favored by most to not only win the region, but also to win the state.

If Jackson controls the line of scrimmage and controls the clock this their game.
Can not afford to turn the ball over or give up big plays that will be the one thing that will beat them.

Does anyone know if JHS Media will be allowed to stream the game? Thanks.

Not a bad draw for Jackson should be a good game but New Philly takes this one

Dropping by to say that I appreciated you bringing this up. You’re a reliable narrator, and when I saw this it was jaw-dropping. Definitely something that 16-team proponents like me don’t think to consider, dang.

It really is hard to get a read on New Philadelphia as their scores are all over the place. They have some impressive showings for sure, but may have played down to their competition some. Of course Jackson probably shouldn't have lost at Hamilton Ross. Probably a very evenly matched game. I'll give Jackson the slight edge in what is likely a coin-toss but New Philadelphia does have to travel 3 hours south.

I'm like you, what would have happened in the Mansfield Sr. game? If they lost a close game to Steubenville, that in itself is a big concern to me.

Jackson by a couple scores. Jackson will use the run game and big line to win this in the 4th quarter.
If New Philly gets stuck in some traffic make it around a 4 hour drive to play a first round playoff game.

I was looking maybe they could bus pool with Strasburg Franklin they play Eastern in Beaver just up the road.
The two schools are like 15 minutes apart. lol lol

Go Ironmen....

Article I found with New Philadelphia coach talking about the Ironmen. New Philadelphia likes to spread teams out and he compares Jackson to Steubenville with their play style.

I think New Philadelphia will be more physical then Ironmen and win the battle in the trenches. New Philly always a strong program just like Jackson but usually has a better playoff run. Based on the score of the Steubenville game and overall schedule I will take New Philly by 2 or more scores.

17th playoff appearance in school history. I take back what I said about playoff success. They did not win their first game in playoffs until 2016. Going into the playoffs averaging 29.7 points-per-game, while their defense is giving up 19.5 ppg on the back half of their schedule. Should be interesting game but still keeping my prediction of New Philly
