I have a feeling that either of these teams would beat Eastern Pike soundly now, and now we get to see one of these teams get to line it up against them and prove it. Good luck to the Rebels.

Re: D7 R27 : South Gallia (7-3) vs. Eastern (11-0)
Eastern QB throws a nice ball. Let’s hope both teams play well and cut out the mistakes. SG had a turnovers that killed drives and Eastern also had mistakes. Question is which team has learned the most from the game in week 9?
Re: D7 R27 : South Gallia (7-3) vs. Eastern (11-0)
Does the old saying of being able to beat the same team twice hold true, if so, then the Rebels might benefit. Now that the Eagles will have the home field advantage, will that offset that possibility? I might have to give the Eagles the slight edge until someone shows that they can be beaten. No doubt it has the makings of a very good ballgame. Really hope that both teams have an injury free game.
Re: D7 R27 : South Gallia (7-3) vs. Eastern (11-0)
Well, if you look at the score from the first matchup this could be one of the most interesting matchups for week 12. Can Eastern's defense slow down stop the SG rushing attack to take a lead early on and try and force SG into throwing the ball?? Can SG shutdown the eastern offense like it did in the first matchup?? South Gallia I'm sure is turning this into a revenge game and that's a strong motivator, let's go with SG by 7.

This sums it up in a nut shell, but I'll take the Eagles to win and move on to round 3.greygoose wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 4:31 pm Well, if you look at the score from the first matchup this could be one of the most interesting matchups for week 12. Intriguing match-up. South Gallia the better team. Eastern knows how to win! South Gallia struggles beating anyone relevant.
South Gallia should win this but wouldn't be surprised if Eastern pulled this out.

It blows my mind how people are on this thread saying that South Gallia is a better football team than Eastern??? They have not beat a team with a winning record. They lost to Southern who Eastern beat on the road without Tomilson one of the best offensive lineman in southeastern Ohio. Lost to Eastern at home with Eastern having its worse game offensively all year. They also had two weeks to prepare for Eastern got to watch Eastern in person the week before they played each other. This young Eastern is only getting better and they still haven’t even played at that the level they’re capable of playing at. Yood you go teams will only keep getting better. Look for a completely different offense this week out of Eastern. The O line is clicking and starting to gel and I look for Eastern to pound the rock. One more thing for South Gallia to have to worry about. We all know what South Gallia is going to do. Passing game is not a threat whatsoever

ND would also be 1 of the 3 teams eastern has beaten with a winning record of out of 11 games.

Ok so counting playoff games they beat 1 team with a winning record but can you elaborate on how South Gallia is a better team?

I never said SG was better. I was just stating how many teams each team had beat with a winning record.EagleNut14 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 12:07 pm Ok so counting playoff games they beat 1 team with a winning record but can you elaborate on how South Gallia is a better team?

Thank god this game is @ Eastern, if I had to travel to Mercerville to listen to their announcer again I would've been stopping at the local VFW on the way down and the way back. If Eastern doesn't turn the ball over they win this game. Physicality up front will play a large role as well but I feel Tomlinson and surrounding cast will be ready. Eastern 24-16

Re: D7 R27 : South Gallia (7-3) vs. Eastern (11-0)
One dynamic that’s flying under the radar in this matchup, IMO…
If one were to have picked South Gallia in the regular season vs Eastern, that would’ve been a generally wise pick. Because, it wasn’t as if Eastern was the first team to do what they do on offense that SG faced… right? ND (as far as I know) and FC were both similar to Eastern’s philosophy. Now, one of the differentiating factors between Eastern and those two is the former has a really gifted, talented QB along with some absolute demons on the outside — whereas the other two really one have one good player outside for their offense to truly flow through.
So, where does that fit to week 9 and week 11? We know that SG has some general experience in defensive game planning for what Eastern brings. Seam integrity, correct depths, a higher-than-average exposure (for R27 purposes at least) to how brackets should be formed and safety assignments/switches/help side… along with role of the defensive front. And now, because of week 9, SG has a read on how they generally stack vs Eastern’s heightened level of talent to the same general offense SG had been previously successful in limiting.
This seems like a -110 vs -110 game. No clear favorite. Not really sure the point of the “we’re 21 points better” posturing, because it’s hard not to look at this game through a reductive lens. That’s kind of how R27 is historically. And when it comes to this one, both offenses basically are one-dimensional. Could be that this one, just like the regular season game, comes down to turnovers.

Easterns offense is far from one dimensional. Have you even watched them play or seen tape on them? They have a senior running back Brady Moore that has been running by the ball very good and freshman running back Jack Montgomery who ran all over Miller. You can also throw in Carver who is probably the best out of all 3. He was ineligible until Week 10 and came back just to get ejected from the game against Green.

Probably haven’t seen much of Eastern based on your last comment. Just thought I’d let you know heard the stats given by their coach the other night on ride the wave, Eastern had over 2,400 passing and 1,700 rushing just thought I’d give ya a heads up.formerfcfan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 1:22 pm One dynamic that’s flying under the radar in this matchup, IMO…

Re: D7 R27 : South Gallia (7-3) vs. Eastern (11-0)
yeah. The game where their first offensive play from scrimmage was an off-tackle to the right side in bunch (3 helmets to 2 helmets + 1 safety) that ended up being a loss of 2 yards. They stopped trying to stretch the field horizontally from that point on aside from a slip here and a bubble mixed in from what I recall.EagleNut14 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 2:10 pm Easterns offense is far from one dimensional. Any time you go to Mercerville to play you’re down by 14 as soon as you step off the bus. Therefore, I like Eastern in this one. At least the refs will be recognized by the OHSAA.bobcats94 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 12:47 pm Thank god this game is @ Eastern, if I had to travel to Mercerville to listen to their announcer again I would've been stopping at the local VFW on the way down and the way back. I've seen enough. Whichever team wins tonight, congratulations. Next week they get Danville, CV, Trimble, et al. Doesn't matter, they will not move on after next week. Two decent small school teams, but honestly, they go outside of Region 27, they would not have the records that they have going into today's contest.
