D3 R11 Athens (10-1) at Steubenville (10-0)

Post by Raider6309 »

Athens is the underdog but should be a good gauge where Athens needs to be the next few years

Thoughts?

Last time Athens ventured into Death Valley, they had a certain guy wearing #10. They have good players, but they don’t have him. Athens is a good team, not questioning that. However, I think they will have a hard time with Steubenville. Tough opponent, tougher environment. To me, this is another stepping stone game setting up Watterson and Big Red in the regional final.

I'd love to believe the Dogs have a shot but the reality is what others have already said. Steubenville is gearing up for the showdown with Watterson. Big Red with a running clock.

Who are the top players for Steubenville? They always have great athletes

Saccocia’s grandson plays strong safety and has been their leading tackler the last two years. Committed to wrestle at Purdue. I also remember seeing something about them getting a transfer QB from Wheeling Park. They’ll have running backs and receivers aplenty.

That Wheeling Park QB transfer named Davis is a good one, but Big Red loves to run the ball behind a solid O-line.

I wonder if the ole legend- Reno remembers Burrow and the boys trying to break the record for most points scored by a visiting team at Harding Field? I'm rooting for Athens but the Big Red might just have a little more fire power.

I hope Athens wins for good ole TVC and SE Ohio-- but this will be ugly-- Tvc is way down this year.

I've watched this Athens team on film looks like they have a good group of athletes. What makes me shake my head is the loss to Nelsonville York. Nelsonville loses their first roundd game to Union Local. Please tell me what I'm missing.

I would love for a win by Athens but don’t see their schedule did not help them for this matchup

Athens ran it up the middle multiple times to not get the record

NY showed that the vaunted “unstoppable offense” of Athens is in fact very stoppable. Big Reds will smack it down as well. That’s my prediction.
