Jackson played very well in there first playoff game they controlled the line of scrimmage the whole game against a very good team I think Jackson pulls the upset 14-10

Take care of ball and control the clock Ironman have a chance.
Fall behind push the ball turn it over they will lose.
I know everyone will say that is a no brained but in this case it is true.
Jackson has to play perfect ball to win this one.

Yeah, they are. Jackson is good, Watterson is an order of magnitude better. Nothing against Jackson at all, all the respect in the world for them. I don’t know how anyone in the region scores enough to beat Watterson. You’ll have to beat them 14-10 or by a similar score. Problem is, holding them to 14 isn’t likely. They have a very good dual threat QB, multiple running backs, and a tight end who is 6’5” 230 and can run and catch. Jackson is a huge underdog in this game, just like everyone else who plays this team until the Final 4 or state final. I’m not one to buy into hype for another team, but this BW team is the real McCoy.

Oh my, guessing this one comes from a state of jealousy in those VC veins.

Wait . . . doesn't Jackson's "tough" schedule prepare them for this game? Got their doors blown off by Ironton. That gets them ready for this game according to the "computer coaches". Watterson by 21. Maybe more . . . depends upon whether they are looking ahead to the "Ville".

Jackson will have a very tough time with Watterson. Literally no room for error and even that may not be enough to keep it close. But that’s what D3 region 11 is all about.Boss429 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 11:43 am Wait . . . doesn't Jackson's "tough" schedule prepare them for this game? Got their doors blown off by Ironton. Jackson’s been known to give Central Ohio teams some fits over the years in playoffs, including Watterson.
I don’t think Jackson will get blown out. This may end up being a game played generally close into the fourth quarter. I think BW is a strong favorite in this one, but the points on Jackson would be a good value.
Maybe a 28-14 type game?
I’ll add one thing about BW: I think what gets overlooked is how detailed they play, and their generally physical archetype. That’s not to say they’re automatically more physical than Jackson — could be a draw for all I know there — but they do marry finesse and toughness well in an unusual fashion.
Their coaching staff is also really, really good. So is Jackson’s, don’t get me wrong, but BW’s staff might be one the best statewide across the board.

Really good take on Watterson. It’s what struck me while watching them last week. They do everything right it seems. They are always in position, they tackle well, their technique is outstanding, and they generally do all the little things right. You can tell they are coached exceptionally well. They are much, much more physical than you’d expect just by the eye test. To me, they’re exactly what you’d expect the best team in Division 3 Ohio HS football to play like.formerfcfan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 12:46 pm Jackson’s been known to give Central Ohio teams some fits over the years in playoffs, including Watterson.

If Jackson plays well, they have a chance.I’m an Ironton fan. They would beat Watterson.
Re: Round 2: #8 Jackson Ironmen vs #1 Bishop Waterson Eagles
Who was it that jackson upset as the 8 seed back in 04? I’ll never say jackson doesn’t have a shot but they will have to build off of that win last week and limit mistakes.

I'm thinking they beat the #1 seed Withrow
Re: Round 2: #8 Jackson Ironmen vs #1 Bishop Waterson Eagles
Cincy Withrow who was the #1 and had the most computer points in D2 (I think D2 then) they had Dante Love at QB who went on to Ball St to be one of the top receivers in the country until a career ending neck injury. He was about 5’10 and would’ve starred on Sundays. I believe the final play of the game he scrambled for 22 seconds before finally being knocked out of bounds. It felt like Mike Vick. I think a lineman went to OSU as well.
This Watterson matchup feels a bigger task but we have some gutsy kids not afraid to make the big play. Maybe we get smoked but I think we’ll be in it.

I remember that jackson team. They had some great kids. That’s the reason I will never count a jackson team out. Same scenario this year with Waterson. I always root for SEO in the postseason and hope Jackson can make a game of it. No VC envy here.Ironman92 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 9:12 pmCincy Withrow who was the #1 and had the most computer points in D2 (I think D2 then) they had Dante Love at QB who went on to Ball St to be one of the top receivers in the country until a career ending neck injury. Anyone know if Watterson has any kids going D1 ? Just curious about what exactly the Ironmen are up against here.

I don’t believe so.
There is a considerable amount of tOSU football alumni who have put their stamp on this year’s team via coaching, however. Doesn’t mean Watty has it in the bag, but does speak to how this finished product appears to have a high ceiling.

Good luck to Jackson tonight. Watterson obviously a tough matchup, but if Jackson can run the ball and shorten game, stranger things have happened.*
