I’ve seen about 3 full games online of Burg and their tempo is possession Offense (3-5 yards a play) and physical on defense. No need to get fancy. The occasional sweep and play-action to the defense honest, and grind it out.fbnut wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 1:17 pmYour offense description of a burg victory is what burg is built for and should have been doing all yr. They have gotten in trouble trying to throw and trying to be cute. Burgs D will show up as they always do. 26 for burg has been running really well the last half of season and 11 is a thumper. getting TE and 12 involved in passing game has really helped burgs offense. Running the qb last week makes them more difficult to stop as well.Jason Vorhees wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 10:40 am If Wheelersburg is to win this game, they’re going to have to control the line of scrimmage and keep UL’s offense off the field as much as possible. Don’t let UL hang around. Both teams will come in well prepared.
It wouldn’t surprise me to see Wheelersburg win this game along the lines of 28-12.
If UL is to win, I could definitely see a 34-28 type of game.
Defensively, just swarm to the ball and keep everything inside and contain. I noticed that when they have at least half of their defense solely focused at the point of attack, oof, they look way better than their record.
Is this the best Burg team? No, but man do they commit to being the same standard that they always are. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them lineup in a few big packages this week; single wing or T-Formation, just to give UL a few mismatches up front.

They’ve moved some kids around and it’s been beneficial. Their run defense especially outside has vastly improved.Jason Vorhees wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 7:28 pmI’ve seen about 3 full games online of Burg and their tempo is possession Offense (3-5 yards a play) and physical on defense. from what I've seen on film, I think Burg can win in the trenches and slow the game down, which is how they want to play anyway. UL is not impressive up front whatsoever. QB has a nice arm, seems like a couple solid athletes on the outside. If Burg can UL's passing game in check they shouldn't have any issues

Boy yall like some toddlers.
Wheelersburg isn’t playing Ironton, or Prep…they’re playing Union Local.
That’s all they should, and do care about.
I was at my daughter’s(cheerleader) game here in Virginia, I was watching this game on my phone. 2 for the price of 1. lol
What I noticed is was that Burg was more hardnosed, they wanted it more and you could see it on the field.
It looks to me like this team is confident, prepared, and ready to play with whoever is across from them. It’s a part of the culture.
Good luck in round 2, Pirates!

I believe he's talking about a re-seeding after round 1, this way the lowest seed is always facing the higher seed. That's what I'm assuming anyways his re-seeding format would have Burg as the lowest seed to win in region 19, as the 14 seed then move on in round 2 to face Ironton the #1 seed. Essentially doing away with the bracket as you wouldn't know who you had until after the games were played, not this we've got the winner of this game stuff.packers80 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 4:28 pmBurg is a 14 seed. That's a low seed. Not sure what you're saying. Plus, a low seed (burg) played a high seed (barnesville) on the road and won. What more can you ask for in seeding by the state?

We get it you want to stir the pot and I guess I'll indulge you for a post here and then add you to the foe list until you get another name, has to get tiresome signing up for so many e-mails. I guess if you're saying that about Burg you're also saying that about Ironton to right?? I mean Ironton plays these low level average skilled teams and wins but then when someone has the same type of talent they get beat every single time, coaching usually decides those games and since Ironton hasn't won a state championship game since this run and they've been blown out in their last 2 title games then we know it to be true. Also losing to teams like that without a single D1 athlete on the team is hilarious, those Ironton guys are to busy committing and decommitting. Honestly if Ironton doesn't win the state title this year then really they shouldn't be talked about anymore as they'd be all flash and no splash. Keep getting those boys up for those 6 am pushups, hasn't gotten them anywhere so far.ChecksNBalances wrote: ↑Sun Nov 03, 2024 10:31 am As long as Burg plays teams with average skill kids they'll be fine. .
Once they draw an Ironton or a Prep it's basketball season.
Burg is STILL exactly who they have been. Look good against ovc type teams. Get dog walked vs the deep and talented teams.

Did you see the Wheelersburg-Harvest Prep game at all? Harvest Prep only won by a last minute score. Wheelersburg kept the pressure on and forced the Warriors to make mistake after mistake in a rain soaked game. Wheelersburg will not go down as easy as you think against that caliber of team, and should handle Union Local well.
There's nothing better than Friday nights and Gridiron Glory.

Grass will be different. Should benefit burgs style but locals home field advantage should negate that.

Re: Week 12 Wheelersburg (7-4) @ Union Local (9-2)
Irontons toughest so far this year has been themselves. Constant penalties and turnovers . If they don't beat themselves they have a good chance this year to win in canton. There have only been three state championships out of seo in the last 35 years. But I believe ironton has the talent to do it this year. If they play clean games the rest of the way.greygoose wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 3:30 amWe get it you want to stir the pot and I guess I'll indulge you for a post here and then add you to the foe list until you get another name, has to get tiresome signing up for so many e-mails. As long as the Burg stays to doing what they do best on offense, they'll be fine, offensively.
Keep the biggins as fresh as possible on the Dline for the 2nd half. Keep pressure on the qb.
The kids will bw ready. This isn't their first rodeo. Same with coaches.
