Adena's top player went to Hamilton Township for football. Then, Piketon's both went to Eastern.
From what I am hearing, sounds like Robertson will play at some point this season, but I'd be shocked if he played a lot or at all before Christmas, which will definitely hurt the 'Cats the first half of the year. Luckily, most of their non-conference games are after the break.

For Piketon, Garrett Legg went to Jackson and Declan Davis went to Eastern Pike
You’ve got Belpre just a lot too far down the wanna be tree. Glad things are just a talking point and not a true statement about these teams. Belpre has a great coaching staff and a head coach that is building a strong program even when other Washington Co teams are stealing and lying to players. Not a lot of respect for the TVC Hocking Champs.
I’m not sold on the jeeps just yet being number 5. Sommer, Campbell, and Big Jack are big losses to graduation. Looking for Shupert and McClintic to step it up this season but we’ll see. Both are capable of 15+ a game. Bo Stephens might be that dawg off the bench. Look for the elder Barnard to be more aggressive this season for 8-14ppg. His little brother could also come in off the bench if needed might be the best freshman in the league.

Meigs : The Marauders hold the #1 spot in the preseason rankings as they brought in one of the outstanding coaches in Ohio - Coach Ryan Davis - long time coach at Chesapeake and of late the head man at Bloom Carroll out of the MSL. Coming with Coach Davis is his 6-8 son Carson Davis … Davis avg 15.3 ppg/9.5 rpg in the MSL - Buckeye Division as a soph last season in leading Bloom Carroll to a share of the MSL - Buckeye. Carson was 1st team ALL MSL, 1st team District 11, 2nd team All Central District … Davis will be entering his jr. season at Meigs with a skill set that see’s him able to use his 6-8 /230 lb frame to be effective in the paint while having outstanding 3 point range on the perimeter … he handles the ball/sees the floor like a guard … Carson joins an already outstanding returning cast of excellent athletes/basketball skilled teammates - 6-5 sr. Dustin Vance is as strong in the paint as you find in SEO …Reed Brinager 6-5 soph - all league as a freshman before getting hurt ... 6-5 sr. Aaron Tobin gives MHS a BIG front court presence in the paint going 6-8, 6-5, 6-5, 6-5 … 6-3 sr Landon Dewees gives the Marauders length at the swing forward position, Perimeter scoring from behind the arc will be led by sr. Cayden Gheen, soph Owen Tracy, along with jr. Davis …
2. Warren : The Warriors finished last season with a deep run into the postseason, losing 64-72 to Maysville High School in the D2 Regional final at the Convo. Coach Maddox’s troops return 14 of 15 players from that regional final squad - losing 6-7 Trent Taylor to graduation. 4 of 5 starters and the entire bench on a 9-10 man rotation has Warren sitting at #2 in the preseason… 6-7 Taylor WILL BE a “tall” task to replace both on the boards at both ends of the floor as well as his 17 ppg … WHS returns one of the premier PG in all of SEO in sr. Julian Stadelman, smooth shooting 6-0 sr can get to the rim, knock down the midrange jumper or drain the 3 ball … oh and he plays D in leading the Warrior transition game … Stadelman is joined by an outstanding group of seniors led by 5-10 sr Jacob Sealey - pg/sg outstanding defender as the 5-10 perimeter player oft times was matched up guarding inside power forwards/post players - strong, developed good ball handling skills in running the offense from the perimeter - plays big in the transition game and was last season one of , if not the best 3 point shooter for WHS … 6-0 Connor Barry will be counted on to help take up the scoring void - Barry is a solid 3 point perimeter scorer … the inside presence will be held down by sr’s 6-3 Chase Lupardus and 6-5 Hayden Wells both lefties which gives defenders fits in the post … both will be counted on to be a force in the paint at both ends for Coach Maddox … as the season went along last season sr’s Nick Cressey 6-0 and 6-0 Tyson Cochran were counted on down the stretch - both solid defenders/rebounders and scorers … back up PG sr. Colin Anthony did it all with solid man to man defense/ surprising quicks off the floor rebounding for his 5-9 size … quickness/length give opposing guards/forwards fits … jr’s off the bench to help with depth for the Warriors - Hudson Elzey, Ian Gardner, Calib Tullius … AJ Criss, PG, was injured all of last season - solid ball handling skills, quick feet fits right into the Warren philosophy of solid/physical/man D …
3. New Lexington : The Panthers of Coach Duerr fit the same script that Warren is reading from this season both only losing 1 senior from last years outstanding district final squad who lost to Warren in OT 46-54 at the Convo in 2024… last season NL was the best perimeter loaded team in SEO with outstanding 3 point scoring from everyone on the floor to go with guards who could get to the rim and finish … this season expect more of the same as sr running mates - Isaiah Stephens 6-1 and Bentley Hanson 5-11 were the nucleus of an outstanding offensive/defensive unit for NL I. Stephens has unlimited range , while Hanson can do it all … both handle the ball well, with their 3 point scoring threat forcing defenders to come out to the perimeter - it opens up their driving into the lane either getting to the rim/finishing or kicking the ball out to the perimeter - scorers behind the arc - Lane Ratliff 5-10 soph/ Isaiah Stephens sr/ Hanson 5-11 sr/ 6-2 jr Paul Stenson/ 6-3 soph Eli Stephens - ALL are 3 point scorers … I look for 6-7 soph Sam Rupe / Malakye Thresher 6-3 sr / 5-10 sr Cory Adam/ Carter Whidden 6-0 jr to find more minutes & shore up the depth chart for Coach Duerr …
4. Jackson : Coach Morrow has followed the same formula as Warren/New Lexington - the Ironmen return all but 1 from last season's team. Losing Boston Campbell to graduation. 4 of 5 starters return all from an outstanding sophomore class - Stephen Jenkins 6-2/ Charlie Woodard 6-2/ 5-11 Ryan Seimetz/ 6-2 Bodhi Wolford - not huge but by SEO standards the Ironmen will be solid across the board with all of these 6-2 players able to handle/pass & shoot the ball … off the bench for JHS was Jax Carroll - a solid perimeter scorer and man to man defender along with Dayton Kallner soph… individual size for Jackson will come from 6-4 soph Eli Crabtree along with transfer portal 6-3 Garrett Legg from Piketon … defense/ transition game/ I look for the heights I posted to go up as the growth spurts hit this jr group … JHS is still in the football post season with 3 of the starters starting for the FB squad, both Crabtree and Kallner have football related injuries … a slow start for the Ironmen, BUT look for good things from Coach Morrow’s group this season …
5. South Webster: 800 win HOF coach, Coach Norm Persin, returns courtside for the Jeeps this season alongside Coach Ryan Fenton … last year D4 Regional finals team, losing to Berlin Hilland in OT 45-48 … led by 6-7 sr. Eli Roberts - the big man can rebound, score in the paint, shoot the 3 ball … with the graduation of 6-3 post players Tyler Sommer & Jack Timothy, 6-1 Brock Campbell, Roberts will be called on to make his presence felt in the paint more this season imo but don’t look for the big man to live on the blocks as he will draw the opponents big man out beyond the arc to defend the trey, if not Roberts will knock the 3 ball down in bunches … SW will return a solid perimeter group - all can handle the ball, get to the rim - consistent scoring will have to come from Owen Mault sr 5-11/ PG Christian White 5-9/ the forward position will be manned by Dylan Shupert sr. 6-2 … the x factor will be Hunter Barnard 5-11 jr. the guard has the ability to score the ball off the dribble at the rim, and knock down the perimeter/mid range jumper … Brycin McClintic (5-9, Junior) will add scoring on the perimeter/ with 6-2 jr Bo Stephens giving solid bench minutes for SW depth … if the pieces come together with a little help from players coming up from JV - the Jeeps will be back at the Convo in D7 again this season …
6. Minford: Coach Shoemaker return a starting trio of seniors who have started varsity for going on 4 years for the Falcons - Myles Montgomery 5-10/ Jackson Shoemaker 6-4/ Bennett Kayser 6-6 … all 3 bring their own skill set to TEAM - Montgomery is arguably the best floor leader/PG in SEO - handles the ball, distributes the ball, scores the ball in transition, scores the ball from the perimeter with unlimited range, attacks the rim & finishes as well as anyone - outstanding if that’s not enough, the sr. coach on the floor sets the tone on the defensive end … enter 6-4 Jackson Shoemaker - solid frame, size down on the blocks, rebounds at both ends of the floor … steps out beyond the 3 point line - scores triples in bunches … 6-6 sr Bennett Kayser … length/size to be a threat from anywhere on the court at both ends of the floor … can take the ball to the rim and finish as well as anyone … 3 solid offensive weapons for Minford … last season Troy Rhodes was an excellent compliment to the big three as he could score the ball on the perimeter or get to the rim & finish , Rhodes has graduated along with defensive specialist & hardnosed hustle player Jeffery Pica after this group of starters the bench was thin with only sr Kade Glockner as the rotating bench player … this year? assume that Glockner will step into a starting position where he will be expected to be an offensive threat - has to show he can shoot the ball … as the 5th starter?- Nick Gilliland 6-1 jr ? Gavin Downey 5-10 sr? Someone off the JV team from last season? … who will come in off the bench? Depth or at least varsity experience depth will be an issue for Minford in the early going BUT with the big three - Montgomery/Shoemaker/Kayser - lots of shortcomings can be covered …
7. Eastern Brown : led by HOF coach Coach Rob Beucler, the Warriors will be looking to have another solid season … the Warriors should climb the rankings as the season progresses - solid top to bottom, deep bench … EB is led by Grady Barber jr. 6-2 who will be a junior this season ... at 6-2 and a solid body build/frame he is one of those players who can mix it up in the paint, has good handles on the perimeter where he can run the point, can be a 2 guard etc. When I watched him as a freshman at the Dave Young Classic I put an asterisk beside his name and penciled in that Grady was being groomed to be "the man"/"that guy" that Coach Beucler (450+ wins) would have as the Warrior leader on the floor ... Barber put up 13 or so ppg last season - was voted honorable mention D3 All Ohio … joining Barber will be a strong group of seniors led by who may be the best 3 point shooter in the SHAC Drew Edmisten 5-11 sr. / streaky good perimeter 3 point man sr. Kade Walkup … the paint & boards will be manned by jr Braxton Vance, sr Bryce Murphy with help from 6-5 Matthew Dick … EB was helped by the transfer portal this off season as 6-3 Chase Pinkerton (Warren Local) & jr. Carter Lindsey (Williamsburg) will do nothing but improve the Warriors on the hardwood … more depth will come from the sophs in (as noted)6-5 Matthew Dick/ Jaidon Florence/Kayne Dotson/Carter Cluxton … varsity experience from last season in sr Landen Koehler/Dylan Pierson … Coach Beucler rotates a lot of bodies - so ALL of these players will see the floor to give EB a varsity tested lineup come the postseason … on paper EB has players at all the levels inside game at both ends of the floor/ perimeter scoring/ ball handling/ floor leadership … fundamentals that is a philosophical demand in the Beucler system from the lower grades on up …
8. Marietta : Coach Gardner/Coach Warner the outstanding courtside duo from Marietta once again will put a guality product on the court for the 2024-25 season … losing 6-8 Alex Kendall IS a big blow for the Tigers along with Izak Knighten 6-5 and PG/2 man Elyjah Lieras-Kelley - shoes that are tough to fill & offense to replace … returning starters 6-1 jr Zaiden Wittekind will be looked at to take up some of that scoring slack … ZW is one of the best swing forwards in SEO - length, hops, can create/finish at & above the rim … PG sr Seth Britton returns with PG duties being shared with jr Trey Hawkins … Britton may need to add the role of SG to his duties on the court to keep his varsity experience on the floor … the BIG question at MHS is how do you makeup for the loss of 20+ ppg and double digit rebounding per game (Alex Kendall) - can’t be done with one player/at least not in SEO HOWEVER the Tigers have 6-4 linebacker-like Braiden Plaugher jr 6-4 and from the transfer portal 6-4 sr Junior Bass (Belpre) - strong/excellent footwork from block to block … the rebounding will be fine/ roles will need to change on the perimeter with 6-1 sr Brayden Jones/ 6-2 jr Owen Riley/6-0 jr Logan Grosklos being asked to contribute more at the offensive end …

Didn’t see mention of Reed Brinager for Meigs. 6-5 Soph who was all league, district as a freshman. Got hurt about 3/4 way thru last season. MAY be best on team.

Yeah, huge overlook on the breakdown of Meigs.
Reed Brinager IMO is the best player on the team.
6'5 starter as a freshman last year who can play any position on the floor. Super fast with a nonstop motor.
Played very high level AAU.
If he and Harrison hadn't got hurt last year, Meigs would've won the league.

Yep, he didn't play in the 2nd game that I saw them play last season/ wasn't on my napkin stat sheet ... the first game I saw him play was the game I believe he broke his hand/wrist injury vs Trimble - 8 pts in that game before he left the game ... no roster sheets for the games/ had to get his name from the scorers table - didn't have his grade level ... my mistake ... I'll add him to the rundown ... thank you for the information ... his addition/return just makes Meigs even more deserving of the #1 position ... sorry about the oversight/ I'll do better ... I'm sure there are more mistakes in all of the other team posts ...

... thank you for pointing out my omission ... hard to come up with ALL of the information ... he was hurt in the 3rd quarter of the Trimble game at Meigs ... he had 8 points - 2 pts on a drive to the rim/ 2 transition buckets and midrange jumper on the baseline ... Brayden Stanley had returned to the lineup from an ankle injury I believe/ Stanley knocked down 4 threes in 2 qtrs of action/ a putback and 1/ a 2 pointer on the blocks for 17 points... roster sheets from the home teams would be helpful ... I'll do better ...

Unckle Ralph , I hope you're right! Belpre lost Derek Liston/Willis Starcher/Blake Church to graduation (Liston/Church starters) ... then lost their inside presence Junior Bass to Marietta ... Nasaith Spencer PG will be a senior and a good one/ saw him get 18 vs South Webster at Shawnee State last winter / dropped a couple of treys in that one ... BHS didn't have much production off the bench - 4 pts from 4 players - when Bass and Church got into foul trouble the scoring/defense dropped off ... vs South Webster with all of the starters in the game Belpre led at the half 35-29 ... when they had to go to the bench in the 2nd half - the scoring fell off , ended up losing to SW 77-54 in that one ... when I looked at Belpre -I looked at the offensive output lost in Bass/Church/Liston ... varsity experience/size in the paint lost with Bass going to the Tigers ... lots of unknowns coming into this season ... as I have said, I hope ALL of the teams do better than my pre-season rankings ... all teams will play their way up/down the rankings based on their play on the court as the season progresses ...

Transfers Connie Thomas, Dayquon Woods, Logan Allen, and Tyreke Lewis are going to have a huge impact on Portsmouth's season. Without them, I was looking at 5 or 6 wins total. With them, they could make up to a 10 win difference in the record.

The Trojans will benefit big time from the transfer portal this season! In my napkin stat scribbles I have:

Down in FAC land, I predict Cartae Ligon for Chillicothe and Gage Bowers for Miami Trace will crack the starting lineups this season. Both are very gifted athletes and great basketball players for sure. At the very least, they will both see plenty of minutes for their respective teams this year.
