I said Portsmouth’s behavior is tolerated. One form of toleration is excuse making. Stuff like “They are just as bad as us!” and “The refs are against us!” are examples.

Are you on staff? If not you should apply. You’d fit right in!
Oh man I wish I were on staff. Id have had player taken knees out, twist ankles, face mask and horse collar every play. Then I probably would’ve went over to fat boy across the sidelines and gave him some too.
Portsmouth only talks a good fight. No fight in em.
Well I saw Terry get smacked in the mouth and throw his hands up. Looked like "no fight" to me. Just talk

Why would he need to run at full speed when they are running the ball and he’s blocking? Brush up on those reading skills, take the goggles off and realize it’s not as one sided as you think. Those refs weren’t going to throw flags on Ironton for their unsportsmanlike bs, they wouldn’t even call holding on them until the game was out of hand. Good grief

Didn't go last night, saving money for 3 basketball season tickets, but I am very upset to hear of the same things behavior wise that was so evident in the 1st Ironton game. The Portsmouth football program embarrassed themselves once again, not by the score, but by out of control behavior, especially in the 4th quarter. It must something about Ironton that brings out the worst in our behavior, because in other games that type of behavior is not nearly as evident. Maybe our players just don't respond to adversity very well, especially against Ironton.

Last night was a very sour ending to what was a good season overall.

Last night was probably even less. Williams for Ironton is light years more talented at the position. Bigger. Faster. Stronger. Etc.
Stupid post. Heiland hype? He was 100% their best player, deserves every single bit of hype and praise he got. He carried the team on his back last year and other than JT Williams did this year as well. He’s a converted WR, didn’t play RB until last season. He’s very fast and strong. You want to compare him to Williams, and you can’t. He runs behind better OL, has other backs to spell him, has a passing game so teams can’t stack the box on him. He’s a very good player, I’m impressed with him, but it’s honestly not a comparable situation. I guarantee Ironton would love to have had Heiland on their team. Sit your dumb ass down
He’s a good player, but not disciplined. Two of the personal fouls were on him well after the play was whistled dead.

Mediocre size. Mediocre speed. Undisciplined. No access to good coaching or development.

If he can run at full speed, punch someone in the head as he is turning, run away, then avoid the attacker entirely with a spin move, he needs to go to the UFC, not the SEC.

The reason Portsmouth kids are constantly punching, fighting, talking, etc. is obvious. Because it’s tolerated. It happens, they leave for a play, their buddies on the sideline congratulate them, they go back in the game. Shirts with F Bombs on them? At a high school game? No problem!

Either the coach needs to get it under control or they need to find a coach who will get it under control. Same school and same kids have ran a basketball program full of class under multiple coaches in the same timeframe. Because that behavior isn’t tolerated when it’s basketball season.

Not sure if you’re trolling or just that ignorant. Last night the way many of the players behaved was embarrassing, you making this post is embarrassing. Why add fuel to the fire? As Dave said, great season but ending it that way sure does leave a sour taste. A rivalry is one thing, kids will chirp, maybe even be a bit more physical or unsportsmanlike, but you can’t just go out there and act that way, especially when you’re getting blown out. Like I said I like Kalb, but he needs a voice and to get a discipline regime. You need to just quit posting about this man, you’re wrong.

It was interesting to watch HeiLand these past two years.
He was advertised as this/That & against weaker Defenses, im sure he did fine.

IRON D is one of the best in many years they have had.
They stopped Heiland, STAT.

IDT, he would want to play at Ironton as @BuckeyeBlood has suggested.

I do not think he would get the start on offense, maybe on D as a LB.

Nice size & speed, but the IRON schedule has presented many more like him. Canada. PikeVille. Burg. Hartley. Jackson, to name a few.

Time to put the Trojans in the past & hope for consistent & strong Tiger outings.

Prep & IRON TWO TOP 5 teams in D5 coming right up.

A healthy winner of this battle could go far!!!

Came to watch the game. Here is my take.

I choose to sit on the Portsmouth side...big mistake. There was some drunkin idiot screaming every. single. play... I am not an Ironton fan nor am I a Portsmouth fan and I can say that I will never come to watch a Portsmouth game again. The fans were out of control. If I were the AD some of you wouldve been going home early. Complete embarrassment to your program, your community, and yourself. The refs called more penalties on Ironton in this game until players for Portsmouth started acting foolish. And this whole, "well Ironton did it too and Ironton is dirty"...really? Are grown adults really complaining like 10yr olds?? lolol Grow up.

As for the team, I understand big rivalry games, but Portsmouth was completely not there to play a football game. I cant believe their coach didnt put some of those kids on the bench and leave them there for the rest of the game. Complete joke. Responding to adversity was clearly not Portsmouths strong suit. It's a shame too cause I thought Portsmouth had some nice athletes, just no discipline. I guess after listening to their fans it does make sense though.

As for the game, Ironton is very physical and talented, but will struggle against good teams due to the amount of penalties they rack up. If they can clean up the penalties they have a shot to go very deep and compete for a title this year.

Is it really a rivalry when one team totally dominates another, year-in and year-out? It takes two to tango, eh. Teams/communities may not like each other but that doesn't mean it is a rivalry type game. Imo

Why would any Ironton kid fight back and risk being ejected and sit out the next game against prep? They were disciplined and punched Portsmouth in the mouth by doing it the right way #scoreboard

The fan you are referring to is not a drunkin idiot…his name is BJ and he’s severely autistic. He’s a Portsmouth graduate who had befriended several of the players in different sports, he shows up to all the games. Now while I agree whoever brings him needs to have him scale it back, maybe you should know the facts before you get online and make yourself look like the idiot.

Glad you won’t be back, you seem like a stud tbh. If you were paying attention and wondered why Portsmouth fans were upset you would know it’s because they chose when to throw the flag instead of throwing the flags every play. Ironton did get called for holding a lot, should’ve been even more. Yes, I will continue to act like I’m 10 and say Ironton is dirty, they are, their coach is, the school is, the town is. But yeah better if you don’t show up again, but if you do give me a shout and maybe I could make you feel very unwelcomed.

You do realize that this is the second oldest rivalry in Ohio and hasn’t always been so one sided right? It’s only been this bad since Ironton has started recruiting players and using all that SFRG income. It’s 68-60-7 in favor of Ironton. Now maybe you stop playing in about 5 or 6 years if ironton opens that lead up to 15 games or so. That’s very possible as they are getting bigger and Portsmouth is getting smaller.

Just stating an observation. And I wasnt talking about him. I kinda figured something else was going on there. I was referring to a different person in the stands. All I was trying to say is, Ive watched a lot of football over the years and I have never seen fans act this way at a HS football game.

And really? Playing against the refs? It was an OHSAA playoff game. God knows where those refs came from but I can promise you they werent from Ironton. Thats not how the system works .... Also, if you think that HS refs truly give a crap about who wins or loses that game, you are what's wrong with sports today. Those guys have real jobs and are just as human as any of us. They dont ref as their full time job and even if they did, Refs miss calls, nothing new there. But to say they are cheating is just ignorant. Get a life man. And your last statement...give you a shout? Lord. How immature lol you sound like you are in HS.
